A guy in work said he'd heard from his contact in the PRW that the Pro12 will be expanded this season to include two South African sides. Rumours of a conference system instead of a league as well.

Watch out, there may be an announcement soon......

It was bound to happen. No one in the NH to compete with Llanelli. :occasion5: :D

Cheetas Kings in two different conf. Cheetahs had a good start in the Currie Cup. Will be a tough season for both teams after playing S18 and somewhat easier for the Kings as they don't play in the Currie Cup. Year2 will be much better for SA without the S18 then

What would you say the odds are on the other South African sides joining when their current Super Rugby deal is up?

Imo, inevitable.

Talks already underway but denied in the Press.

Saracens consortium long game will pay off.

Seems that South African Airways is struggling a bit - it needs a government hand out of £45/50 million immediately.

Very good indeed!
Logistically so much better
Costs lower
Jetlag relief! Not having to fly 30 hours forward into time to nz and play 5 games in Australasia! while they only play 2 games in sa and fly backwd in time
Also the Currie Cup competition is strength vs strength and there are 2 other teams except Cheetahs that are not playing S18 currently but that are stronger than the Kings eager for NH. Seems at first they will join the Anglo/Welsh cup, they are the Steval Pumas (Highveldt and Lowveldt combined) and Griquas (populated Northern Cape with hq in Kimberley)
