Is that the side? Can't believe he's dropped Shingler and picked Biggar. :shock:
Edit; I also can't believe he's brought Liam back in after that ridiculous act of petulance.

With all the players available, I'm of the opinion that this selection sucks balls. :thumbdown:

I assume that this is the match thread and currently in parallel to the 'Wales team to France' on the topic of Gats team selection.

So I'll copy this from that stream :

I'd have gone for Lee at TH, Parkes is the glue that holds Wales together.

It could still loose though :)

I'm in synch with that ... looking at it from the other way ..I think that team could control France well. Not a lot of risk about it?
No need to go fast and loose.

Even more so given the Fra selection as commented on in the French Team section.

Your submission is interesting coming from someone who knows French rugby better than most.
Gats' selection is quite conservative but probably a good one for a strong France team.
The Wales bench looks as if it is primed for running rugby, Shingler, Anscombe and Steff.
If that is the case I would have preferred Seb Davies to Bradley on the bench.
A regards Cubby. I would have preferred to see him at seven but in hindsight, Navidi has had some really good games for Wales. So is perhaps a more sound choice. Cubby's time will come.

I prefer to have all the salient points in the first post of a thread. When a thread is 5 or 6 or more pages and you want to know what time the game is being played or who the team is or what channel it is on TV then it is easy just to flip to the first post of the thread.

Cubby currently is not up to top level international rugby and may never be. He tried hard last week especially as our 6 was never about. ;) Yet the 6 gets picked again...

Cubby made 18 tackles the most of any Wales player against Italy plus involved with a few turnovers.
The next best tackler was Anscombe with 14, then Tips and Faletau with 10 each.
Cubby was instrumental in Watkins interception. He made the tackle that led to a scrambled pass followed by a Faletau tackle then came the interception pass.
Cubby, not international standard, then this is a serious indictment of our other loose forwards because he has the most turnovers compared to all other sevens in Wales.

Well I've stuck with Gats but now he really has shown that he hasn't a clue. The first win was more due to Pivac than Gats and since then he's thrown HIS men in as soon as he could, even if they aren't match fit. Patchell was excellent against Scotland and England and anscombe has been great when he's played but we saw against the irish that dan needs to expand his game. Now apart from changes he had to make ie josh and hadleigh he's back to his players. The man has not a ?&%$!*& clue. France by 15-20

Not sure I fully agree:
15 - Ha'penny (Scarlets)
14 - North (ex Scarlets)
13 - Scott Williams (Scarlets)
12 - Hadleigh Parkes (Scarlets)
11 - Liam Williams (ex Scarlets)
10 - Biggar (Ospreys would be better had he spent a year with Scarlets) :D
9 - Cawdor (Scarlets)
8 - Faletau
7 - Tips
6 - Navidi
5 - Cory Hill
4 - AWJ
3 - Francis
2 - Owens (Scarlets)
1 - R Evans (Scarlets)

16 - Dee
17 - Lee (Scarlets)
18 - Smith
19 - B Davies
20 - Shingler (Scarlets)
21 - Aled Davies (Scarlets)
22 - Anscombe
23 - Steff Evans (Scarlets)

Starting - 8 Scarlets (incl. ex Scarlets), Bench - 4 Scarlets.

Wayne Pivac still has a lot of influence in this team as selected.

Wales:

Halfpenny; North, L Williams;

S Williams, Parkes,

Biggar, G Davies;

R Evans, Owens, Francis,

Hill, A W Jones (capt),

Tipuric, Faletau, Navidi.

Replacements:

Dee, Smith, Lee, B Davies, Shingler, A Davies, Anscombe, S Evans.

France:

Benjamin Fall; Gael Fickou, Remy Grosso;

Mathieu Bastareaud (capt), Geoffrey Doumayrou,

Francois Trinh-Duc, Maxime Machenaud;

Jefferson Poirot, Adrien Pelissie, Cedate Gomes Sa,

Paul Gabrillagues, Sebastien Vahamaahina,

Wenceslas Lauret, Yacouba Camara, Marc Tauleigne.

Replacements:

Camille Chat, Dany Priso, Rabah Slimani, Bernard Le Roux, Mathieu Babillot, Baptiste Couilloud, Lionel Beauxis, Geoffrey Palis.

Two good squads. Pace and power on the bench.

Will we get into the France lineout and control our own?

Our best front row means Samson is on the bench? We shall see.

Shingler is back and I think that's a definite plus in those last few minutes.

France and their tight five will be a massive test for us, as will Bastareaud of course.

Ymlaen Bois!!

We will need to stop Mathieu Bastareaud getting into his stride without throwing too many bodies at it.
It won't be easy, but no one can run without legs.
Pretty sure Edwards is working overtime on that aspect.
