I would love to see us going back to a warrenball kind of rugby. If you lose the physical battle you lose the game in international rugby. Ireland will win the grandslam tomorrow by playing a structured direct game you cant win international rugby games by playing behind the gain line.

I think he thought that France would fail to beat England.

That's only a guess mind - you might have another version of the truth, Phibes.

BTW, you clearly want Wales to lose the France game and not come second overall.

If that happens you will continue to slag Gatland off and totally ignore his stunningly good results with the Lions.

I never want Wales to lose, if we win well I'll be back here praising Gatland for his selection that won the game, if we lose I'll still be back here slagging him off for choosing the wrong team. Its my privilege as a fan.

He has had good results with The Lions and with Wales, but they are becoming thinner on the ground. He's done the best he can with Wales and it was good while it lasted.

Gatland has gone back to what he knows

He has always been a fan of physicality, contact, gainline, size etc

The dual openside thing is a red herring. Navidi is primarily a defensive player and tipuric has been picked over shingler as he offers more round the ruck

It’s a disheartening selection as wales have been off the pace for a good few years playing contact based rugby, then a regional side comes along with basically the polar opposite of it, the national coaches got on the bandwagon but couldn’t implement the same thing at national level, now we are back to a side playing contact rugby

Wales may win the game but if they were to play England and Ireland they would still lose. The manner and reasons for the defeat would be different due to the side picked

Very good post, Wales are trying to emulate the Scarlets but can't, only those coaching the Scarlets can do that, hopefully they will get their chance with Wales, I would like to see if they can do it at that level, with the players at their disposal.
Until that time comes we'll have to make do with Gatland & Co trying to evolve our play into something better than warrenball, Howlerball maybe? who knows.

They sing Calon Lan out loud

Mamma mia, here we go again
My my, how can I resist it?
Mamma mia, does it show again
My my, just how much I've bated you?
