Nope. He served us well but is far too slow these days. We have to be brighter than that these days. The game has moved on.

He's done his bit time for others to stand up now.

Kind of disrespectful, he's still a top-flight player. Is Hadleigh Parkes that much better?

Hadleigh Parkes is a completely different style. Wales must move forward with players adaptable to the new style.

He was a fullback, and was 'converted' to fit a particular plan. As with most conversions though, once they are made to that shape, you can not use them anywhere els cos you cut the bits off.

We owe him gratitude, for what he did, but things have moved on. There may be the odd occasion where he could be a bench choice, but not likely

I've always thought Jamie to be an out-and-out full back, and IC, (as Soapy rightly says) was a Gatland 'Invention' and, a bloody good one that served us well (and the Lions too?)
I still think at 31, he has something to offer still? I doubt he's anywhere close to selection at 15 but, as can happen, scratch-off a few players to injury, and we are down to crumbs depth-wise! It's often a case of horses for courses and against a team like Ireland (for instance, maybe France too?) I think he has something to offer should Injuries give us more of a kicking?
The only way I see Jamie getting a call though, is if we really are in a bad injury position? Remote probably but, I wouldn't write him off completely just yet, he's certainly been rock-solid for Quins the past 2 seasons, and he created a try for them with a bloody monster of a floated pass just a week or so back which really caught the eye? If he offers anything at all, then it has to be in the final quarter/15 mins of a game? He could still create problems in both attack & defence if he did have to fill a bench spot!!

His game was very attritional so the age is irrelevant... more miles under the bonnet

Was a very good crashball 12 and should have been encouraged to develop a better off loading and passing game. But with gatland a obsession with the gainline and keeping hold of possession then truck it up is all we got

I’m not sure who we have to fill his boots. Parkes is a decent but limited player. Watkin makes a lot of errors at the moment

The two games I've seen him play for Quins this year, he was very, very good (and very, very knocked out in one of them!).

Very different to the player being described by most here.

He didn't hack it at Racing, didn't make a regular spot in the team and got released early ..

At the Quins. he is used as a decoy often in attack, and is very solid in defence. Still a good player, maybe a bit slower these days and does not have the best distribution skills. Perhaps less stereo typed than some believe.

I dont think he can turn quick enough for a fullback now. Too much upper bulk and knees knackered through pounding

Would this be due to his rugby or his womanising? :D
