Head coach Noel McNamara, heading into his first Championship in the role, has selected nine Leinster players for the game in Bordeaux on Friday night.

Skipper Tommy O'Brien and Leinster scrum-half Jonny Stewart are the only survivors among the backs from last year's campaign.

Peter Sullivan and James McCarthy debut on the wings, with University College Dublin man Harry Byrne joining Stewart in the half-backs.

The pack has plenty of fresh faces with Leinster pair Jordan Duggan and Ronan Kelleher the only capped players at loosehead and hooker respectively.

Cormac Daly and Jack Dunne line up at lock, with a new-look back row of Ulster duo Matthew Dalton and Aaron Hall, alongside Jack O'Sullivan at No.8.

Coach McNamara said: "We've had a good build-up over the past few months, and it's an exciting time for the players as well as the coaching team.

"France is never an easy place to go to play, and we're expecting a large and noisy crowd at the game, but it's a good challenge for the players everyone involved is looking forward to getting the campaign underway on Friday night."
