Pretty much went how I wanted, a thrashing by Scotland with some "contentious" ref decisions thrown in that the Aussies will whinge about. Came over here all cocky as usual and sent home humbled (if indeed Aussies are ever humbled).

I think sadly though the era of the "big 3" may be gone. NZ are the only SH team who really worry the NH any more. I think the new big 3 are NZ, England and Ireland.

Scotland vs Ireland might be close..

Fortunately for Ireland we meet them in Round 4 and usually by then the Scots have shipped a boatload of injuries.

That and you have home advantage anyway. Even last year when Ireland were seemingly really out of form and with lots of injuries, you still beat the Scots 35-25 in the final round.

Australia now need to understand why they can beat New Zealand and yet suffer two record defeats in the northern heplinmisphere

It is clear discipline is part of the explanation.

Scotland was possibly the worst team in the NH to go men down to - their quick wide open game takes maximum use of the advantage

But Australia should have adapted and played a tighter game. Why did they continue to play the same game.

Yeah, the Rugby Paper said yesterday that Michael Hooper is now the most heavily-carded player in Test rugby history!

Not sure if this point has been raised but did Townsend do right in turning down the Lions? Arguably after years of Scotland in the doldrums, he did right to concentrate on his main job and prepare for the AIs and Six Nations thoroughly and it seems the results are coming!

Aye, Black Dragon is on a downward spiral.

He is consistent for the moment mind.

I would say that Scotland were improving before Townsend became coach.

I get your point though and would say that it must certainly have helped Scotland that he was there... even if the Lions did nick a few of their players during the tour!

Back on a more even keel now. After a win. Comment on this section still stands though.
