Harsh, they co-hosted in 2007, should've given Ireland the opportunity.

Oh well. If it wasn't SA then I'd have preferred Ireland.
Well done France. Maybe the Boks will win again *hahahahahahaha*

A significant turnabout ... lobbying in the corridors of that citadel often helps ;)

They will be well prepared given the planning for the Olympics too but the security aspects will be difficult to say the least.

Close, cheap, weather, food, wine, grounds ... couldn't France just host all the World Cups?

I think some of us, kiwis, get brain washed at how rude the tFrench are, soccer nation, Toulon was my favorite spot and that was because of the rugby vibe, can't wait.

Brain washed esp the home boys like me that never get outta nz, and still have beef with nuke testing in the Pasifik, we moved on now

The Euros were epic in 2016 mate. Against the background of terror threats the French got it spot on.

Wales were mostly in Bordeaux and Toulouse, which is most definitely rugby country.

According to this the voting was as follows :

Not sure how the voting is organised but apparently the first round was important, for France :

Sco (3), Italie (3), Japon (2), Géorgie (1), Roumanie (1) – and 4 federations – Afrique (2), Asie (2), Amérique du Sud (2), Océanie (2)... surprised Sco went for France first round and not Ireland?

Second round swingers :Eng (2 out of 3), du Canada (1), US (1) N America (2).
