It's the Awn Jones David's guy again. Corry Alien is a fine player.

On a serious note, the squad certainly won't have two hookers, two flankers, two flyhalves and no locks or looseheads on the bench. Also probably Rhodri Jones won't be in it.

I think the tour of the PIs gives an idea where the management's thoughts are beyond the current first team.

Of those who have been mainstays in recent years, I think probably Luke Charteris, Bradley Davies, and Scott Baldwin look like they are already out or certainly will be by 2019. Some other players - like Jamie Roberts and Alex Cuthbert - are looking like they will still be in the squad but nowhere near as prominent as in the past.

Front row I think we will see Dacey move into 2nd choice behind Ken Owens, though Elias is pushing hard and may nudge Dacey into 3rd. Props will be as they have been; expect Dillon Lewis to be 3rd choice TH behind Lee/Francis (who may keep swapping for 1st choice).

I think AWJ and Ball will be the first choice Lock pairing for the next couple of years. Cory Hill as a backup and Seb Davies waiting in the wings; maybe Thornton and Beard will get a look in occasionally but it's a crowded queue.

Back row: Gats will stick to some combination of Moriarty, Warburton, Tipuric and Faletau, and rightly so. Wouldn't be surprised to see Moriarty nail down #6 with Tips on the bench.

Fly-half: Biggar isn't looking as invincible as he once did, though he had a good lions tour and will probably still be first choice. Anscombe might be pushing Sam Davies for the bench spot, though he may see more action at Fullback.

Scrum half: Webb>Davies, as now.

Centres: JD firmly grasping 13, and think they will stick with Scott Williams at 12, though Owen Williams would be the obvious choice if we're looking for the 10-12 style. But I think they would have tried Williams at 12 over the PI tour if this option was on. Roberts will probably still be in the squad come the WC but may not get a cap.

Back 3: Hard to see them looking beyond Williams/halfp/North for the forseeable future. Steff Evans will get some appearances off the wing. Cuthbert falling behind in the pecking order.

More change will be seen on the bench and in the backups than the first XV.

Can't see AWJ (as a 34 year old) turning up at RWC19 plus I'd also have a question mark over Warburton (injuries/wear and tear) being there along with a couple of other old warhorses who are/have been fixtures in the team for years.

Wales have missed a trick by not blooding some youngsters in the AI's and 6N up to now. England have not made the same mistake.

True, but on the other hand the Wales team in the PIs was probably the most inexperienced of all the touring NH teams this summer. (Although England and Ireland also were heavily affected by the Lions, they still seemed to have more experienced players in their tours, especially among their forwards and half-backs).

Slow, predictable and one paced.

Paul O'Connel was planning to play at the last WC at 34 and only didn't bevause he was injured first. AWJ has always been resilient, I think he will aim to do the same - the 2019WC will be his last hurrah. Warburton will be 30, he will make it.

Ritchie McCaw was 34 I think, was Brad Thorne 37? etc etc, if his body is in shape he will be fine, changed my opinion of him in Lions tour, excellent player.. leads from front, just enough to demand respect but not a clown.

Yea so is our Sam Whitelock to be fair,, now anyway, he'd probably win a race though. Sam and AWJs played quite similar I thought in Lions tour and what pissed me off imo, AWJs played better :D

To be honest. arn't such threads as this the very reason rugby boards exist .. to till the soil of talent and see what develops?

And after Lions tour:
JD is best centre in the word ATM, he wasn't before.
Your halfback 10, 7, 8 6 are word class, they may have been before but they have proven. North is awesome, even though ruled out.

I don't really see too many changes to the wider squad over the next couple of years in the build up to the World Cup. I do think that some of those younger players who toured in the summer might have displaced some of those who have featured in squads in the past few years, so could see the wider squad over the next couple of years looking something like:

LH - R Evans, N Smith, G Jenkins
H - Owens, Dacey, Elias
TH - Lee, Francis, D Lewis
SR - AWJ, Charteris, Ball, S Davies / Beard
BR - Warburton, Tipuric, Faletau, Moriarty, E Jenkins / T Young

SH - Webb, G Davies, A Davies / T Williams
FH - Biggar, Anscombe / S Davies, / O Williams / Patchell
C - S Williams, J Davies, J Roberts / T Morgan / O Watkin
W / FB - L Williams, North, Halfpenny, Cuthbert / Amos / Giles
