And so it should be, if they are going to bring the best 37-40 players to NZ, may as well play the best we have to offer, outside of the 167 players playing in GB, Ireland and France, 43 in Japan, and 41 that play for other International top tier teams.

A few coachs been talking up their places especially that English *Bar steward* Eddie Jones :thefinger:

:occasion5: Canna wait will be great

Ten games in five weeks is ridiculous. It's going to have to be Lions A and Lions B, which I can't really see the point of.
Do they have good hospital facilities in NZ? Reckon they're going to need them.

Yep it is crazy and may split the team, re a dirt trackers team vrs "the test team"..

If the Super teams are full strength, some of those games be harder than the AB's games. ie the Hurricanes have a good of no of non AB's in their squad but look the best imo in the comp.

It will be challenging, reality of a NZ tour of the hardest, the easy games may not be as prevalent as the old tours of playing medium provincial teams.

Is this the problem of rugby calender, Im sure all the other tours since 70's have been way longer. Changing times. How many players can they take, are they taking

It will need A, B and C I reckon, but there is no time to form functioning combinations. They will have to form around a national core with some add-ons.

Whoever agreed to the itinerary wants locking up.

I believe NZ call the shots, and keep nearly all the revenue, good businessmen ;)

Lets hope they pay the medical bills for all the lions players cluttering their hospitals. ;)

Better than playing part timers as a warm up to a test series.

There will be injuries yes but that's just the way it goes.

We only need to win the last two games. ;)

Quote:
On the subject of the Lions, are we letting NZ Rugby off too lightly when it comes to how many All Blacks will be allowed represent their Super Rugby teams during the tour games? The early indications are the key ABs could represent the Blues and the Crusaders but won't play for the Highlanders, Chiefs and Hurricanes. Fair, or otherwise?

HB: That boat sailed years ago. The All Blacks are king and everyone else merely loyal subjects.

RK: I don't like the concept of the All Blacks being placed in cotton wool at all. The Highlanders game is 11 days before the first test. Is that good enough reason to prevent Ben Smith, Waisake Naholo, Lima Sopoaga, Aaron Smith, Malakai Fekitoa, Liam Squire, Elliot Dixon and even Liam Coltman from playing? The first test is sandwiched between the Chiefs and Hurricanes' games, so I can understand the paranoia about injuries following the short turnaround. But let the Highlanders have their men.

RVR: Fair as can be. There's absolutely no worth in sending Beauden Barrett out in a Hurricanes' uniform to play the Lions and risk injury with two test matches looming. It's luck of the draw the Crusaders and Blues are scheduled to play the touring side at least two weeks before the first test. Some fans of the other three franchises might be scratching their heads, but surely they can see the bigger picture.

LN: Fair for the most part. While the Super Rugby and Maori game in particular will be special occasions in their own right, years from now the results of the three tests will matter most. Coming in from their Super Rugby teams, the All Blacks need time to give themselves the best chance of achieving a clean sweep. All Blacks being available for the Crusaders match is important more than the others, given the city's passion for rugby and impinged ability to stage tests due to the earthquakes. One could argue fringe All Blacks - those not used in the match-day squads - should be released for their respective Super Rugby teams. But otherwise I have no gripes.

Hell no, that's also part of the plan, get some NH dosh into the local health system.

So it's a 37 man squad, several will have to continuously back up, hard ask. He should take 40. Taking into account injuries, head knocks etc.
Even the super team minus the 20 or so AB's will be OK plus teams.

A real Lions tour, like someone said, you only have to win the last two.
This will be a tour that Gats maybe expect to lose or sacrifice a game or two outside the tests.

Yes, just off the domestic play offs and a 30+ game season, onto a plane to New Zealand-I am sure that is what they wanted :D ;)
