Post Wales XXIII for Summer tour.
Regardless of who tours (main candidates will be taken out of consideration and if they don't tour/rested). I think we need to pick some new players. I'd like to see:

15. Matthew Morgan
14. Keelan Giles
13. Ashley Beck
12. Owen Williams
11. Ashton Hewitt
10. Sam Davies
9. Aled Davies
8. James King
7. Thomas Young
6. Ross Moriarty
5. Rory Thornton
4. Jake Ball
3. Dillion Lewis
2. Sam Parry
1. Rob Evans

16. Nicky Smith
17. Kristin Dacey
18. Samson Lee
19. Luke Chateris
20. Olly Cracknell
21. Gareth Davies
22. Owen Watkin
23. Steff Evans

Time to really discover some new players. I'd leave the likes of Dan Biggar at home - we all know what he can (and can't!) do. New faces needed.

These games with whole sale changes rarely end well and turn into glorified trial matches

I would chose 2 or 3 young or new players and see what they can do in a decent side. Sam Davies, Giles, maybe steff Evans

I think Elliot dee is a good player and always thought Tyler Morgan has potential. But young Tyler isn't really helping me make my case at the moment! Amos to full back with Liam Williams on the wing would offer a running threat

Liam Williams isn't a quality winger. He is a quality fullback.

He is a good winger and has scored a few tries... unfortunately I have never seen him have a top class and error free game at full back for Wales. The scarlets yes but not Wales

His happy clappers make a huge fuss when he does something in a game to hide the 3 other games when he does nothing.

George North has got on with his job, and everyone has called for him to be dropped.
Liam Williams has been virtually anonymous, and is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Leigh Halfpenny scored all of our points against France, including two fifty metre kicks, but he's shit and should be dropped.
You people are mental.

If I agree with you can I just be a bit insane on every other Tuesday afternoons?

What if Halfpenny scored all our points but had been selected at lock? Would you still want him to keep his place.

To be fair, he's been playing pretty well for the Blues lately. But yeah, I think we've seen enough to keep him away from the national side.

I think a good run for The Blues is key.

I wouldn't want to write him off just yet.

But certainly, I think Jonathan Davies' idea on Scrum V of having a performance director is a good one. If Morgan's weakness is his defence, then someone needs to work with him to sort it out.

It's hard to deny, whatever you think of Morgan, that he has some very good attributes.

This attitude towards Morgan is part of the problem. He's clearly not shit, but certainly has some major weaknesses, to the extent that many coaches won't pick him.

It's the same to some extent with players like Kristian Phillips, Harry Robinson and Jordan Williams. It seemed to me that their defensive weaknesses were just given up on and then the players were cast aside as not good enough. However, all of these players offer/offered something different in attack to the tried and tested 6ft5 lump.

I don't believe that all of these players could have been international or even first choice regional, but the seeming tendency to cast them aside to Premiership or even use them now and again in the regions where their weaknesses never require testing means that they, nor other players around them will improve. If greater efforts were made to highlight players with potential, even if they aren't going to become international players and ensure their weaknesses are sorted (e.g. playing flatter, learning to pass), then the standard of all players and the concentration of talent and competition will improve.

To summarise - Am I advocating Matthew Morgan gets picked for Wales? Not necessarily. But I am suggesting that an improved Matthew Morgan will help improve the results of The Blues and the performances of the squad.

I am of the view that people are swayed by the idea of Morgan i.e. The type of player he is, as opposed to his genuine playing ability and contribution

Based on Wales this 6N we may find most of the first choice are in the Pacific Islands anyway.
If that is the current Wales squad, and we assume Green players are going on the Lions and Yellows are possibles.  Then we can work from whats left.  Then we assume Wales will take 27 men based on their last Lions parity tour to Japan in 2013.

Scott Baldwin
Kristian Dacey
Ken Owens
Scott Andrews
Rob Evans
Tomas Francis
Rhodri Jones
Samson Lee
Nicky Smith
Jake Ball
Luke Charteris
Cory Hill
Alun Wyn Jones
Rory Thornton
Olly Cracknell
James King
Ross Moriarty
Justin Tipuric
Sam Warburton
Thomas Young
Taulupe Faletau
Aled Davies
Gareth Davies
Rhys Webb
Dan Biggar
Sam Davies
Owen Williams
Jonathan Davies
Jamie Roberts
Scott Williams
Alex Cuthbert
Steffan Evans
Ashton Hewitt
George North
Leigh Halfpenny
Liam Williams

So this is what we have left for the PAcific tour:

15 Steffan Evans (age 22, 0 caps)
14 Alex Cuthbert - Don't moan at me, Howley picks the team not me.  (age 26, 45 caps)
13 Scott Williams (age 26, 45 caps)
12 Jamie Roberts (Captain) (age 30, 90 caps)
11 Ashton Hewitt (age 22, 0 caps)
10 Owen Williams (age 25 0 caps)
9 Gareth Davies (age 26, 24 caps)
8 Talupe Faletau (Make sure we bring him back from Tonga, don't want him jumping off a ship like Manu Tuilagi did). (age 26, 65 caps)
7 Ross Moriarty (age 22, 16 caps)
6 James King (age 26, 11 caps)
5 Cory Hill (age 25, 5 caps)
4 Jake Ball (age 25, 25 caps)
3 Tom Francis (age 24, 21 caps)
2 Scott Baldwin (age 28, 32 caps)
1 Rob Evans (age 24, 16 caps)

16 Nicky Smith (age 22, 11 caps)
17 Kristian Dacey (age 27, 3 caps)
18 Scott Andrews (age 27, 13 caps)
19 Rory Thornton (age 22, 0 caps)
20 Olly Cracknell (age 22, 0 caps)
21 Aled Davies (age 24, 0 caps)
22 Sam Davies (age 23, 6 caps)
23 Hallam Amos (age 22, 5 caps)

Extras:
Rhodri Jones - Prop (age 25, 14 caps)
Adam Beard - Lock (age 21, 0 caps)
Tyler Morgan - Center (age 21, 3 caps)
Keelan Giles - Wing (age 19, 0 caps)

I think that will pretty much be it.
