Post Re: Wales XXIII for Summer tour.
Ollie Griffiths is definitely promising, though if he were excluded due to the sheer weight of competition I would not be complaining.

Lewis Evans and Cudd are decent regional players, though they are both a lot older (29 and 28 respectively) than a lot of the other players being discussed and one can't help but feel that if they were ever going to reach the level of Warburton, Faletau, Tipuric or Moriarty - all of whom were regulars for Wales by their early 20s - then they would have done so by now. If you're talking about them you may as well add Aaron Shingler and Josh Turnbull, another two flankers who always put in a great stint for their Regions (but both of whom arguably having had their chances with the senior international side).

My one concern in the back row is the lack of obvious out-and-out No.8s. Besides Faletau, Dan Baker is the only other player who is clearly an 8. Moriarty can play there but is best at 6, whilst the likes of King and Navidi are also utility forwards who are better as flankers. Still, it's a pretty minor concern compared to our problems at Centre and Tighthead prop.

The above list of loosies is not the whole picture, there are four other who may come into the reckoning.
The Dragons trio of Ollie Griffiths, Nic Cudd and Lewis Evans impressed me on JD.
Then also we have Thomas Young (Nigel's spawn) currently making a name for himself at Wasps.
Hmmm just noticed that Young is mentioned above, but I'll leave my post as is.

Plenty of flankers there, it's at No. 8 we struggle for depth after Taulupe and Moriarty are taken out, with Baker barely being up to regional standard for me.
King can cover 8 though and never seems to let the side down, so I'd be quite happy to see King, Young and Cracknell as the starting back row this summer.

He may just get his chance in the Summer Tour.
With Dan it's now or never.
I though he played very poorly against Treviso and not much better against the Blues.
One swallow doesn't make a summer and overall he has had a good summer.

Luke Hamilton has started quite a bit for Leicester this season.
