Post Gatland to leave Wales (In my opinion)
Ok maybe not yet, but hear me out.

My prediction is that Gatland will only take a small contingent of Welsh on the Lions tour (five or six at most). The Lions will outmuscle the All Blacks 2-1 largely thanks to the English and Irish.

Gatland will be a hero back in NZ and be touted as Steve Hansen successor. To fulfill the qualification criteria he will be given a provincial contract until 2019.

Gatland resigns his Welsh post ( a big thank you from all at the WRU). The entire coaching team are laid off pronto.

September 2017, Vern Cotter introduced as the new Welsh coach.

Does anybody else see it being played out differently, if so how.

always been my view that Gats will leave after the Lions, I have always thought he was much to shrewd an individual to put up with "Gatlands" law. That was a move to appease the idiots. Given that there are 4 clubs in Wales that only occasionally rise above mediocrity its too small a base to construct an international team.

Simple maths - which doesn't speak well for the acumen of the current coaching set up.

I feel Gats accepted the last contract on the basis that he is very well paid, and it put him in a good position to lead the lions who he hopes will beat the all blacks allowing him to put 2 fingers up to the Kiwis who dis him as a player and a coach

I don't think Gats is wanted by NZ whether he wins with the Lions or otherwise.
Not sure if he'll come back to Wales, though.

I can't see him coming back. The Lions tour feels like a conclusion for Gatland in terms of coaching in this hemisphere.

If Gatland leaves, desperately would like to see Tandy as next coach

ONLY if he wins both the European Challenge Cup and the Pro 12, which is far from impossible.

England have wonderful backs, but their Forwards can be bullied off the ball as Wales France and Ireland showed, what makes you think they would be a match for the ABs?
