I think Hogg will get mullered by the AB's TBH.

I think so too..
He'll counter attack well as usual given the opportunity but his defence wont stand up and they'll be more precise with some of the high kicks than some of the 6N varieties.

The ABs always do their homework and I think that he'll be one of their favourite subjects...

I think he'll be a substitute at best for the test team.

Hogg is not the last line of defence rather the last line of weakness.

He's not for me despite his attacking prowess.

At least two Crookies have stopped taking bets on the Lions captaincy.

Sam is "nailed on".

I was going to say most squads have 3 fly halfs, we had four last year if you included those that could like Damian McKenzie

The player of the year is won by a popular vote. Players who do the basics well do not win the popular vote, players who get into the highlights reel do.

If Hogg is selected its a bold and positive selection by Gatland. Unfortunately Gatland tends to be cautious and I do not think Hogg is his type of player. I hope he picks him because he adds an attacking dimension .

If the first test was next week and all were fit, I would go with:

Halfpenny, North, Joseph, Farrell, Daly, Sexton, Murray, McGrath, Owens, Furlong, Launchbury, AWJ, Stander, Warburton, Faletau

Bench - M Vunipola, George, Nel, Itoje, B Vunipola, Youngs, Biggar, Hogg

Don't give much of a stuff about the Lions but on current form the team should be :-

Hogg
North
Joseph
Farrell
Daly
Sexton
Murray
McGrath
Owens
Furlong
Launchbury
Itoje
Stander
Warburton
Vunipola.

Can't have Vunipola on current form - others way ahead.
Like Toby Billy is not quite up to speed yet.

Hogg is a standout attacker is a team which is full of overachievers, defensively he is way off. I reckon Anthony. Watson, Daly and Liam Williams are better is you want all round players, and if you want to bias towards defence, then Kearney and Halfpenny are better options. Maybe a decent bench option.
Slander has had a good season, but the Irish backdrop including Slander were very effectively neutered by Wales a couple of weeks ago

It's just plain typical of The RFU to start belly aching about Dylan Hartley being chosen as Captain even before it's been officially released. There web site is a disgrace.

I'm not sure I agree. Neither Faletau or Billy are back to their bests but I can't think of any 8's who really are that much better on current form. Moriarty is riding high on making some big tackles against England but really isn't that great at 8 and Heaslip is ok but again I'd say even now isn't outperforming Billy or Faletau.
