Now you are sounding like someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. :D Well, regarding the Lions, I have no idea so can't comment(see what I did there)...... but Maori welcomes are done for most guests, in schools, clubs or airports for special guests touching down. It's not been put on for your lot only. I think it's called......culture.

Yeah As I said elsewhere here, I took my 7yo to another school nearby for a day trip with her class recently. What happened at this airport was actually less than what we got from the host school - and it was just one class.

This is pretty normal stuff for welcomed guests.

Yeah, I took 4 Japanese students back last year and the school we visited went hard out. Soooo different to when I was a kid. It's bloody awesome, every kid doing it like they wanted to be there. Asian kids, white kids, PIers, all going hard.

Just read that puff piece on the Lions who according to Mike Henson are
" A team like no other" and "Cross-sport comparisons with the Lions always fall short."
and you could "Scour the sporting world high and low and you'll find there is nothing quite the same."

How about the West Indies Cricket team Mike.

Read the link - it's about Henson pushing the idea that the Lions are a stand out example in world sport - 4 countries coming together blah blah blah.
Actually it's two countries coming together(UK and ROI) and the Ireland rugby team does that every year. The West Indies are 15 countries coming together and again they play every year not just for a few weeks every four.

IT'S A SINGLE GROUP OF ISLANDS AND ONE COUNTRY ON THE MAINLAND OF SOUTH AMERICA. (IF YOUR RULE APPLIES).

Don't have sky anymore (too expensive especially after they last lots of stuff to BT...) but will watch highlights on S4C.
Would be good to see a competitive series but won't be surprised if the Lions end up getting humped... :D

Sky only costs £22 quid I believe per month I believe. I know the NZ Trip is one in a lifetime but I still wouldn't pay serious cash to travel out there to watch a few rugby matches. How much would a two test holiday cost with a provincial game thrown in including flights accomdation food etc?

Geography is not exactly your strength is it.
The Ireland rugby team is drawn from players who are citizens of the Republic of Ireland and from players who are subjects of Her Majesty from the part of the province of Ulster that is in the UK (leaving aside other less obvious eligibilities).

That "group of islands" are a group of individual nation states who for example are members of the United Nations something that Cymru, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England are not.
