Not so much 'stayed the same' as have had mixed results.

(1) Italy. An encouraging Summer tour of the Americas has since been followed by a thrashing by New Zealand, beating the Springboks for the first time, losing to Tonga, a thrashing by Ireland and threatening to upset Wales and England until both sides eventually pulled away after an hour or so.

(2) Japan. Ran Scotland close in the second of two Summer tests against them, then months later got thrashed by Argentina before beating Georgia and running Wales close.

(3) Australia. Got whitewashed by England over the Summer, then had a record home loss to New Zealand, but then recovered to beat the Springboks at home and win both matches against Argentina. Months later they thrashed Wales, narrowly beat Scotland and France, narrowly lost to Ireland and were thrashed by England even after having led at halftime.
