Post Spanish Rugby 'taking off' ...
Spanish Rgby growing, Full house 26,500 attended the Copa del Rey final.
# players growing.
Barcelona footy already have a rugby section and soon Real Madrid too.

PS Mods ... could we have a section for N Hemp teams other than those already itemised. The General Rugby section is non country specific but the the recent USA and now some Spanish news perhaps warrants a N Hemp Ano Country section?

I went to see a game in Benidorm 2 weeks ago. The game was nothing to remember, but the ground had shade tables and a waiter service foe 2 euro a pint.
Something doors won 21 11 or veintiuno once

Let them replace the Italians in the Pro 12.

It would be interesting to see an expansion of rugby beyond the current 10 or so nations who can seriously be considered to play it, 12 if you are feeling generous. It's still very much a niche sport. On the one hand you have the wider pool of potential with more countries and players but on the other, money begins to dominate and the club game takes over. Also rugby has some great history in its international games that would be lost with new internationals, they would have to be a whole seperate league.

On balance I'd like to see an expansion of rugby worldwide with Spain, Canada, USA and Romania competing more, Georgia, Italy and the PI competing more with T1 teams and perhaps whole new nations like Germany, Russia etc competing at a semi-decent level.

I saw something today about the Netherlands rugby team. That's enough of a justification to get them in too, right? A 3 minute video saying they have a team.

I should think they would have an awful lot of qualified players ready to take us on. Trained and playing in S Africa.

Went to Madrid ages ago to watch them play Ebbw in the european shield. "Madrid 2012" was the team name as they were bidding for the olympics.

Took us ages to locate the ground as not a single local had a clue what rugby was or if there even was a rugby pitch. Other than that it was nice.
