SE is now filled wth undue optimism, that these nice Irish gentlemen will coach our 4 teams in the dark arts of breaking the laws and getting away with it.. all these passing and line out drills are over rated :D

What ................ I never knew the Irish had a culture of cheating! :D
Like yourself, I'm stunned at this revelation  :D

Well, we hosted OMBAC today (Old Mission Bay Athletic Club) from San Diego, home club of Todd Clever (Suntory) and Chris Wiles (Saracens), and always a good outfit.

The start was delayed by the third game of the day, Long Beach State defeating Pepperdine, after our under 16 and Under 19 teams had both won handily.

SE met the referee, an expat from Durban, who apparently had refereed before today. Exchanges were fierce, and the breakdown interpretation puzzled fans and players alike. We were under the cosh early, OMBAC scored 2 tries and we got one back from a series of pick and drives and a good clean break from centre Ed Pitts resulted in his scoring under the posts and a 18-17 lead for the visitors at half time.

Belmont scored a well worked try just after the half which was converted then proceeded to miss 3 penalties in the 35m range at tough angles. From an attacking move inside the OMBAC 22, a slow lob pass was intercepted by the OMBAC left wing, who ran 80m untouched to score under the posts.

With 3 minutes to go, Belmont were awarded a penalty trailing 25-24 from 5m out half way out from the posts and elected to take a scrum. Two pick up and drives took us tothe goal ine then the balls was fed to Peter Sio at full speed and the outside centre broke 2 tackles to score a try which was converted.

OMBAC got inside our 22 but ran out of time and a final score of 31-25 was about right. We had 7 players missing today and were a bit lucky to win.

Actually it was the first game from the bench for a staring linebacker from the Air Force academy. He started the second XV game after 10 mins from the bench in the first game and scored two tries in the first half of the seconds' game playing number 8. SE retired to the pub at half time. :D

Give out Munster boys a week or two with him and he will be special.

If you can't arrange a mechanical fault then you should hand your Welshness in and just become a vaccuous yank :D

Today we have the 40th anniversary of the Santa Monica rugby club with games starting at 10.00am through 4.00pm (first team game). SE will watch the 4.00pm game only and hope our first team, who are unbeaten thus far, spoil the big party. :D

We did 34-14, in a bruising forward battle.

Our NFL convert scored a remarkable 65 yard try from a turnover which was the highlight of the game. SE left the Last Chance Saloon ( the home team local), in time to take madam out.

Well we won 43-10, and I witnessed a refereeing display that would have made Mr. Clancy proud.

A pity as he ruined the game as a spectacle, and we had the under 16 and under 19 teams watching with a few parents. When will these people learn..
