Post Gloucester appoint new Head Coach
Gloucester look like they are joining financial heavyweights in the Aviva, with the deal looking like it's all sorted on the Billionaire Mohed Altrads move on the club. Cue the appointment of Ackerman ;

Premiership club Gloucester have named former South Africa lock Johan Ackermann as their new head coach ahead of the 2017-18 season.

Altrad's bid has dragged on, initially he wanted controlling interest, then it was suggested 45% and since then various reports have mentioned 25 and Unions and EPCR ponder the bid.

One thing for sure is that Altrad intends to enter Rugby. He's a very astute billionaire very sharp businessman. He's also sponsored the french jersey for 1.5m for just 6 games, ... (peanuts for his Co advertising ;)

He bought out the Montpelier Sports centre and Montpelier Club and Jake White (he tookover from GalthiƩ who was sacked and the issue went to Tribunal) leaves this Season and is replaced by Cotter and a new Coaching outfit.

There's been various rugby business positioning in France pursuing the burgeoning Asian market and also with a target on Japan and the World Cup.

Can't really see where Altrad is going to position his Businessss.. he made his vast fortune on scafhoilding and business materials but it it a very widespread international concern.

ImageEasy to consider past and present, it's the future and associated plan and strategy to achieve that takes the talent ..

Ackerman took the (sa) Lions to the S18 final in nz. Beating 4 of the 5 nz teams home and away. Put a near 50 on Crusaders in the quarters and a 50 on the Highlanders at Ellispark. (sa) Lions was an amateur side in 2014 when he coached them. Banned from Superrugby on political grounds he had to dig from the amateurs. 2015 Lions was sponsored by Emerates and turned pro. First year back after their international ban as amateurs they beat the Auckland Blues, Queensland Reds etc. and finished in the middle of the log. Then improved every year. Last year final. This year Conference top of log thus far.
Very good coach. Skills and running game. Best record for Springbok coach but skin colour disqualify him

Have the Chinese ever won a rugby test?
