See, history isn't an actual reason for survival

It's a shame . proud to be there on Saturday for their last game, and it's still a social venue for the Welsh in London and will probably continue to be so even as a semi-pro outfit

Sadly there are only two ways out of this: accept dropping down so far ala Richmond and London Scottish and getting back to the Championship level in about a decade's time. Or get bought out by the WRU and swap fixture lists to the Pro12 (this has been suggested with the SRU funding a third team in London Scottish). But can the WRU afford five pro teams?

Even if they were 'recreated' would the new owners be allowed to use the old name and colours? It's happened in RL, a game where there is no money outside Super League (ask Bradford).

Points to the bigger issue: ring fence promotion and the Premiership? Currently only London Irish could stay up, don't think even Yorkshire Carnegie could. So why not just increase the Premiership by one and open up promotion when the Championship is ready. My guess is in a few years time but not now cos rugby's not like soccer where the promoted teams have a reasonable chance of survival (hello Bournemouth).

In their present state London Welsh could easily drop to NL2 anyway.

As bad as it sounds, I dont think any club should be supported above their level. (for a while maybe) They have to be viable at the level they exist

I think S12 (or how ever they be re numerated) is a good target. If they fail, then the Prem is hell on wheels for a club like them. Sink or swim

I would prefer to see RGC be fifth team than London Welsh. If London Welsh could get in the Welsh league it would be good.

Why only 5?

Or a step in from lower levels with relegation

Aye, let them "do a Wasps" and move to Newport.

If we could afford 10 regions and have decent players in every team, I would love it. As it is we struggle.

I'm not sure I'm clear regarding your second paragraph? Are you saying that the bottom placed Welsh tean in the Pro12 gets replaced with another Welsh team? In theory I like the idea but I think it would mean players would move from teams and would be expensive.

Many famous clubs are going under or becoming amateur as they heap money on cheque book charlies.

Much better to have a Junior section who then will be loyal to the club AND not cost more than care and attention from the senior section.

its inevitable. Clubs in the north west of England have gone the same way; Waterloo, New Brighton, Birkenhead Park, Orrell, Winnington Park, Morley, etc etc

its a pity as i grew up watching Cymru Llundain at Stradey on a boxing days with the ground full and a keenly contested game.

Capitalism doesn't always work, a bit of socialism goes a along way... ;)

I am still at a loss to understand why people continually call for LW to be bought into the Welsh fold.

They contribute absolutely nothing to Welsh rugby, and would continue to do so regardless of where they play
