Post Re: quins bloodgate dr up on misconduct hearing
As someone who does the same job as her for a rugby club I for one am glad sense has prevailed. I do not condone for one second her actions but she is NOT a danger to the public. She deserved a telling off which is what she got. My dad and I have seen incidents in the past where coaches have balled medical professionals out for not telling them what they wanted to hear. This was a pressure cooker situation and she chose the wrong course of action but striking off a doctor and ruining their career in a situation like this would have been grossly disproportionate and unfair. I am sure otto is aware of far riskier "professionals" that carry on in their day to day activities in medicine!

Andrew, It was enough. I am sure she will be on her best behavior from now on.

Otto, I thought she was suspended without pay from her A and E job without pay?

That would be a side issue Dewi. If she had been struck off she wouldnt have been able to work full stop. GMC are more important in this instance IMO. You would hope if she HAD been suspended though that she should be allowed back to work now

I think she may have (had) depression as a result of this episode Andrew, so she may not be fit to resume duties yet?

She was suspended by the GMC, and by her employers (the a&e place) on no pay

Her primary job was with I think, Maidstone, A&E - they suspended her pay following her suspension by the GMC

I'd imagine that Maidstone have taken her back on now.

Her job with Quins was a nice little earner for her (NAtional one club doctor, part time, 19k a year, and IMHO bent as a nine bob note that would put this woman in a positive light)

Even so she has had 11 months without pay, regardless of how much you earn, that's a hefty whack to take.
