Super Rugby? And a league that has the Italians, Dragons and Kings can't be that great.

Erm no it isn't, but its not as bad as its sometimes made out to be. The regions really need to get themselves into the best shape they can possibly be, apart from the odd dinosaur holding things back they are on a very slow upward curve I feel.

No it’s not, some of the teams could mix it with the Super League hierarchy though.

Yes, but who is most of the time the best between Leinster, Munster, Saracens, Wasps, Montpellier and Toulon? Conversely, who is most of the time the worst between Dragons, Zebre, Agen, Oyonnax, Worcester and Bristol?

What is the point you are failing to make?

The point is whether both the best and the worst teams in the respective leagues are of a comparable nature, or whether there is a difference.

The Pro 14 should recruit six more teams, and split into two leagues based on quality, so that the Dragons, Kings and Zebra are distanced from the top sides. With two promotions and demotions at the end of each season a more competitive attitude will prevail.

The problem with that ia that we may end up with a fair few teams in the bottom place, even fewer people would attend and to get promoted, a team would have to spend loads of money, driving the prices of players up.

I don't actually think it would improve quality by a huge amount though, as you would probably end up with the same players in the league. Or more likely, there wouldn't be s maby youth players as they would not wabt to risk playing them. And/or there would be a greater use of expensive overseas players.

For what it's worth, I don't like the league that much but the way it exposes young players to senior rugby is an advantage we have over England and France.

SARU ( sa rugby ) gave the green light for 2 teams from the cc ( Curie Cup ) to join the Anglo Welsh
They want these 2 teams to challenge Kings for promo/rele to Pro14 then.
Both teams are stronger than the Kings. They are the Steval Pumas and Griquas.
This will improve the quality from sa if the Cheetahs and Steval Pumas play Pro14 and the Kings are shifted out
Once this promo/rele is in place in Pro14 the question in the thread can be answered. S15 sit with a problem that they do not have a promo/rele. Although the Kiwis do not want to hear this their Auckland are bottom again and now bottoms for the past 5 years and Sunwolves rockbottom but no rele promo so also not the best situation.

Sounds good, anything that can improve the quality of teams in the Pro 14 is a plus. If SA can have two strong teams in the Pro 14 that can improve the league immensely. Leading eventually to their involvement in the European Cups.
Going out to SA during our winter also gives our players a nice break from the dark, drab cold and wet winter here, must be a good thing for them. Obviously travel chaos can be a negative but when things run smoothly it must be a nice break for the players.

Sharks discussing a possible pullout of S15 and to join Pro14 from 2020 instead. Sharks have a good supporter base in Europe. 1.6-2 mil sa have emigrated to Europe. Sharks merchandise selling well there. Martin Martin Anayai head of Pro14 after his talks with sa rugby bosses said 14 to 16 a possibility

:D God you spout some rubbish. We know the blues are shit bro, but you lot have traditionally supplied the worst teams to super rugby, it’s why you have your own conference. Where were you then? I can’t recall you ever bringing up relegation when it was a 1 round comp? Now that you guys get an easy ride you wanna give the blues shit, it’s hilarious. The sunwolves experiment isn’t working, but I applaud the fact they tried them. :thumbright: They’ll probably be dumped soon but that’s just the way it goes I guess.

And why will the question be answered if the kings get kicked out? Just because two new SA teams go north it won’t make that league the best, delusional.

I’m not sure that we want to introduce relegation to the pro 14

Removing it promotes attacking rugby as opposed to the stodgy, do not lose mentality seen in England and France

The meritocracy in European qualification is important though
