Oh well. Even less exposure for regional rugby.

But more money I guess.

On the plus side, it means matches will finally be broadcast in HD. Not paying 10 pounds a month though

No live sport should be allowed to be shown on the BBC in any case, about time this happened. I'm not too keen on the BBC spending money on highlights either. And the cash they spend on kick-ball and Garee Lie-nee-kur is disgraceful.

Maybe this will get more punters through the turnstiles.

Bad news...

Increased commercialism. Yes bottom line improves but fleecing the people

Rugby as a product. Yay

Thats the end of rugby then. If you are not already watching it, you never will.

Brilliant a little bit more money for less exposure, It won't bring people through the turnstiles, If fans were going to go to the ground they would already be doing so, one more nail in the coffin of welsh rugby because of greed, ironically greed is why welsh rugby is where it is.

Murdoch managed to capture the UK by getting hold of football, so everyone had to get a sky subscription.
I'm no going to start paying for telly, just to watch regional games, and I doubt anyone else will. Those who are already fans go to the games anyway.
Double edged sword. May get a few more quid, but exposure will be down to zero.

Edit. I now realise I said exactly the same thing as Grimps. I'm not copying him, honest. :D

I think S4C will still be licensed to show the matches.
Time to brush up on our Welsh. :D

On the contrary, the reverse is true. There will be a lot more exposure AND a lot more money coming into the game.

This deal is a positive for Pro14 rugby and could only have been achieved by the successful broadcaster being able to see rising attendances and an increased in viewers (otherwise they wouldn't have bothered bidding). Its a win win for everyone.
