Has his work cut out there, but a good job for him.

Good career move, Jim?
Onwards and upwards.
Dai needs some motivation and Wilson will give the Wasps a boost.

Re: Danny’s got a new job
Anyone else think it's really bad that moving from being head coach at a Welsh region to forwards coach at an English club is being seen as a positive career move?
I mean, I know that Rugby-wise Wasps are more than just a step above the Blues, and that that Wilson will probably be earning more in his new role. And I also know that he has a good reason to leave and has made it very clear why he's doing it. But it's a damning indicator of where the regions are that our head coaches are moving to lesser roles elsewhere. At least when Dai Young left it was to be in charge (yes, I know he'd achieved a lot more than Wilson, but still).

Re: Danny’s got a new job
The Cardiff club seems to have no ambition or owner support. Who would want to work in that environment?

Leaving a sinking ship, why they had to announce his departure so soon I don't know, bad mistake. Agree its a backward step to go from head coach to forwards coach.

Wasps must be shaking up the backroom team. A new skills coach too for next season. https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/rug ... 64510.html

It is not so much the job as is the salary received.

Re: Danny’s got a new job
I suspect it is Danny Wilson's choice to announce it. This way he has the control. We now know that he is seeing out his contract and that it is his choice. He also has a job ready. If he had announced it at the end of the season, people would think it wasn't his choice.

We're moving closer to Gethin becoming player/coach. It was predicted at least six months ago.

Re: Danny’s got a new job
I would happily see him become a coach. But head coach? A Bit soon right now.

Re: Danny’s got a new job
Great player, from the time he played as a young lad for Ponty you could see he had it. Duncan Jones probably cost him quite a few caps, and he still has nearly 130, Duncan on his day was also a very good player. Jenkins has never let is performances at the top level slip. Known for his lack of patience and social skills, im not sure if he would make a coach. However, he may make a great one

Re: Danny’s got a new job
Have previously stated ' a team makes a coach, and not a coach makes a team.
Of paramount importance is a happy squad, under a popular captain, and playing and training in an environment that is not too demanding.
