Post Opening round of Pro 14 Season.
I'm looking forward to the opening salvos in this season's Pro 14.
Looking at the sides they all seem quite balanced with a fair amount of young guns coming into the mix.
Apart from the Blues which never seems, on paper, to be a balanced team.
I think Blues have too many oldies in the side which is probably why they have good games when they are very good and bad games when they are very bad. :D

First up it's the Blues v Edinburgh at 7:35 pm tonight.
The match is live on BBC2 Wales.
Let's get the season off to a cracking start.

The off season has been bearable this year because of Wales summer tour and the Lions.
And, Scarlets fans have been able to bask in the glory. :occasion5:

After tonight's opening match, I think the smart money is on the Blues finishing last out of the four Welsh regions.
Scumv should run a poll of final positions of the Regions in the 2017/2018 season.
Any opinions?

My opinion is that it will be easy.

SA rugby got a nice intorduction to the PRO14 tonight with Cheetahs losing 42-19 to Ulster tonight. 6 tries to 3.

Opening round 2 to Wales Regions 2 to the opposition.
Dragons got beat but didn't disgrace. Blues! What can one say? Disappointing, at best.

Blues were crap

Dragons always crap so no expectation. Such a state getting smashed somehow represents a decent result

Ospreys didn't see

Scarlets excellent. Enjoyed it. Well done

I think you are being a little hard on Dragons. They are arguably the youngest team in the competition.
Today they were up against the second best outfit (according to last years standing) in the Pro14.
I thought they played very well and I expect a gradual improvement every game.
I would say that they are where Scarlets were two seasons ago.
Rodney Parade looked a real picture and it is going to lift the boys playing there.
Don't expect miracles but watch this space.

All I can say about the Spreys they have problems but some of their big guns are missing so I expect them to improve.
The least said about the Blues the better. The Blues have an inherent problem that just won't go away. I personally think the the rot starts at the top which includes their selection of past sale by date SH players.

You make a good point, people are being hard on the Dragons. They have been the most successful team in Britain for years. If anything they have set the bar high.
