Post Cataract op
Had a cataract op this morning ...

Arrive by taxi at Clinic 08:15

Registration up to 08:30

Admitted to Op area 08:45

Prep and Pre med

Op about 15 min (was different than I had imaged/expected) ..there was a trainee present so surgeon explained the total process as he went through it...didn't understand half of it but the commentary was entertaining

Post med check up aand Order for breakfast

Exit 09:50 into lounge and breakfast awaits

Taxi driver waiting ..

Exit by taxi 10: 15;

Incredible !

I remember back when my father had cataract op in Moorfields in London it was a week in hospital!!
----------------------------------

Home 11:00 .....

Discovered that I had forgotten my ring (high sentimental value was my fathers)!!!

Problem : (after undressing for pre med and during it the nurse discovered I still had the ring which she took and put it in my cupboard) I forgot it! Frantic phone calls to Clinic ... nothing!
Hospital phoned back ring had been put in my brief case with documentation!

------------------------------------

Quite a morning !

Glad it went well for you.

Guy I know just had his knee replaced, went in at 0800 was out at 1430 complete with new knee

Utterly incredible.

Didn't even put him out, I'm really not looking forward to that in a few years time.

Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick then?

Well done. I prob need one soon and I am terrified of it. I prefer almost anything to someone in my eye.

My term for the preparation ... prep for anaesthetist (local and calming) , cardio set up etc ..
Apologies for use of wrong term ... mustn't upset the professionals eh ;)

Delighted to say that this am that there's already real improvement!

PS My purpose for the post(s) is to relay to anyone facing the process a positive example and also to mention the incredible progress of eye surgery. My family has been plagued with it including blindness and being part of early innovative laser surgery etc ....
