Post Record size catfishi
Last week a world record size catfish 2.74metres and 120 kg was caught with rod and line in a nearby river...

Under rules, after verifying size the beast was returned to the river.

Catch and Return is good.

That's a monster of a fish right enough.

The biggest fish caught in a Welsh river was down on the Towy near Nantgaredig.

This was a sturgeon weighing 388 lb and measuring nine feet two inches in length.

It was caught by a Mr Alec Allen on July 28, 1932.

In this case catch and return is bad.
This species has been introduced to SW France (and UK as well) and they eat anything and everything up to the size of ducks!
Basically an environmental criminal let loose so those that squat for hours on end on banks of rivers, lakes and ponds can get a thrill of landing a big fish.
I've got very little time for these course fishermen, with their "lounge" chairs, multiple rods, little tents and "all the comforts of home". They're the fishing fraternity's equivalent of the couch potato.

Oh and that should be Tywi not Towy.
