Post Re: Gardening Club Notes
Been a bad couple of week. 3 weeks ago the spuds were affected with blight so had to cut off all the foliage and leave the spuds in the ground for the skins to harden and then fingers crossed they will be aright, albeit a bit small. But my sister and b in law when to water the poly tunnel and glass house last night and found that we have tomato blight as well which has spread since the weekend so not too sure how many toms we are going to get now add to that our elephant garlic has got rust, which turns them into mush.not a great time

We stopped growing veg years ago, bar spuds in tubs. Wet summers and low sunlight levels did for our ambitions.

Cold tonight.

Wrap your apples up warm and leave the mower in the shed.

So what's strange, the rat man, the holes in the bank or just the garden?

It's been a bit blowy overnight - from Aberaeron to Monmouthshire.

The garden looks okay because we removed some shrubs at the end of last year, but there's a few more inches of water in the buckets.

A couple of flowers have been damaged here, especially irises and roses, but it's not as bad as it might have been as people in higher parts of RCT are without power for their breakfasts.

According to the BBC, we are nowhere near as bad as Newport and Monmouth, so that's all right ...

Never been keen on gardening, but last week I planted some mint seeds in a tray. Went out this morning and.... they are gone?

No sign at all. Must be aliens. Oh, and I had to get my recycling boxes back from down the field.

Slugs, we've had a mild winter so there are loads about which the frost normally kills off

Slug bait will help or sprinkle crushed egg shells around, they don't like the roughness, but you will need a lot

For really stoopid people (mention no names) the shells should be spread around the bottom of the plant
