Ive always fancied New Zealand never been there, perhaps I'll be lucky enough to go one day, but the gang violence there is starting too put me off {lots of UK tv programmes about it}, I've been told that Auckland is dirty, noisy, smelly and most worryingly for a major city boring, the NZ countryside is said to be like 1950s UK.

Would it be worth my time {outside of a rugby tour} ?

:thefinger: :thefinger: :thefinger:

absolute class from a poster who hasn't been to NZ.

A friend of mine has been there and thats the lowdown he gave me, he recommended only flying in and out of Auckland and not to waste anymore time there than that, get straight out into the countryside was his recommendation.

I would be really interested in just how much of greater Auckland your friend referred to.

My guess would be Sky city LOL

You and your much traveled friend should do more research

The 2009 Mercer Quality of Living Survey ranked Auckland 4th place in the world on its list,

I dont believe you have a friend

Cities are dirty, smelly, noisy and dangerous places, you are comparing one dirty, smelly, noisy and dangerous place against another.

If you want to live in such a place fine, they are not my cup of tea.

Give me the green green grass any day.

Funny thread. :D

All depends what you're looking for in a country. Money, peace, food, relaxation, parties..........

I love rural living, but continue to live in Japan because of the people, food, and quality of life. NZ is easily the most beautiful country I have visited, it doesn't necessarily have more then most other countries, it's just that everything is so close, traveling is short and sweet.
