Post Re: Connacht Vs Wasps
I seem to recall the Connacht 10 asking the French AR if there was time for the lineout and he said there was.

He refereed the AB vs Ireland game in Chicago and was top notch. Happens to the best

The assistant referee, who had taken over as match referee following an injury to Jerome Garces, awarded a penalty to Connacht after time had elapsed. Connacht kicked the ball into touch and from the resultant line-out, scored a converted try to win the game 20-18.

However, as time had elapsed, Connacht should not have been permitted to take a line-out throw-in once the ball had been kicked into touch as stipulated in Law 5.7 (e) of World Rugby’s Laws of the Game.

EPCR would like to thank all parties for their understanding and would also like to confirm that the result of the Pool 2 match stands.

Not good, not good at all.

Shock.

Isn't this covered by the World Rugby Law Trials (from 1st July in Northern Hemisphere) Law 5.7 (e) has been amended to

"If time expires and a mark, free kick or penalty kick is then awarded, the
referee allows play to continue. If time expires and a player then kicks to
touch from a penalty kick anywhere in the playing area, the referee allows
the throw-in to be taken, and play continues until the next time that the ball
becomes dead."
