Connacht can thank the replacement ref for this, but Wasps should have controlled the last 30 seconds better

Post Re: Connacht Vs Wasps
Wasps should've closed that out but Conn is the sort of team that their gut and gumption and team ethic can climb mountains

They deserved their win fir 100% commitment and tactics that suited. Wasps should've won but played, imo, a sloppy tactical game that belied the talent at their disposal.

Both Wasps and Conn still have a Zebre game but also need to beat Tlse to win the day. Wasps at home to Tlse, Conn away... 2nd ain't assured for 1/4s but should be ...

Something to look forward to.....

They mentioned on TV that Wasps had been consulted and agreed no change, ....is there an option under these circumstances other than result stands?

As I believe it , the refferee is the final adjudicator in all matters on the pitch.

Quote:
The assistant referee, who had taken over as match referee following an injury to Jerome Garces, awarded a penalty to Connacht after time had elapsed. Connacht kicked the ball into touch and from the resultant line-out, scored a converted try to win the game 20-18.

However, as time had elapsed, Connacht should not have been permitted to take a line-out throw-in once the ball had been kicked into touch as stipulated in Law 5.7 (e) of World Rugby’s Laws of the Game.

EPCR would like to thank all parties for their understanding and would also like to confirm that the result of the Pool 2 match stands.

Not good, not good at all.

Shock.
