You are only going to hold on to these players if the money paid makes the prospect of NH money look less tempting, even then if the volume of players exceeds the available places, players will still leave not just for the money as much as for the chance to play and earn.

I was just taking the piss bro. Was having a dig, albeit a pretty sad dig, at the PI teams for stealing our players....... We can’t really do anything about players leaving, our biggest draw card is the national jersey and possibly our structures and country. We will never be able to equal the pound, euro or yen. It’s why we will never select players outside of NZ.

It has been suggested by NZRFU that there may be chosen 'havens' in the N Hemp where NZ players can seek profitable sabaticals and thus keep the big players and allow them to remain full international status (declared in statements fron NZRFU hierarchy during the recent debate on the subject and debated on here).

That seems a cute workaround whilst still pretending to maintaining the principle of only home players for international selectionand power of the jersey.

Sabaticals have already been used for players, Carter et al to use the sabatical route in order to pretend to maintain the principle?

Other S Hemp countries have experimented with other route e.g only well established players can be selected from abroad.

As already mentioned Arg have ceded the rule now too in order to get a decent team for the World Cup.

All a bit of a sham or fingers in the dyke (meant kindly and not sexually) really!?

Yeah, the NZRFU are looking at choosing some clubs around the globe who will have close relations and I’m guessing will allow the NZRFU to have some say in the use of players, probably for a decent price? Not sure but I think its a good move and will give us a lot more players to choose from. If it does happen then they won’t be pretending, it’ll be reality. The NZRFU have to stick to the rule, and they have. I don’t know why you keep on bringing up “pretending” etc. I remember you saying this rule wouldn’t last, a long time ago. It might get changed a bit along the way, but it’ll never get canned. It’s a great rule, and the biggest reason why we are where we are.

Sabbaticals are for players who have earned the right by sticking with NZ for a number of years. The principle still stands. Leave and you won’t get selected unless you’ve got a deep history with NZ, and the blackness.

Other countries don’t have the same situation, they are not the AB’s.

A new team with players from Fiji, Samoa and Tonga will join the Super Rugby competition.

Will they play in the nz conf? if they do then hopefully they relace the therebouts bottom performers over the last 5 years Auckland Blues team

:D They’re the only kiwi side that isn’t above the meat eaters, all of them. Bloody tough being the worst team in NZ, shame they aren’t in an easy group, like say, the SA one.

a lame excuse . They (nz Aucklsnd Blues) lost to Aussies at home. Rebels clobbered them. That doesnt convince the sceptics like me that they belong in Super rugby. I know 10 years back they were good but past 5/6 years very poor

The Lions lost to the Blues at home.

Our worst team vs your best team (at home).

but then again they lost to a shi**y Stormers team the very next game. They might have a good game 1/10 but with the Aussies beating them at home and since the Sunwolves put that 50 plus pointer on them ...I 'm still not convinced they really belong. I believe a S12 with them in a tier2 of Super rugby with another 10 or 12 teams and a promo/rele will give the competition more credibility in nh and in sa currie cup teams eyes which are kept out of a chance of competing

Your continual focus on the blues is hilarious. Cutting them will just strengthen the other 4 teams even more. The picture is a little bigger than just culling a kiwi team.

Back to S12. 4 NZ, 3 Aus, 3 SA, Jags and 1 other? I’m all for S12 if it’s the same as it was many moons ago, but it will never return to that format because the SH is looking at expanding into new markets.

Also, how on earth will it gain credibility in the NH? And please don’t try and tell me the Currie cup produces better teams. Since super rugby began, SA has had bottom scraping teams, and if they had better players in better teams, but never chose them, their problem, not anyone else’s. You’ll never convince me that you have all these hidden secret gems of players who aren’t getting a go.

Loosie, what are these new markets?

Japan(Asia) and Argentina. And Justic recent said that a PI team will play in the coming years.

How tangible and with what confirmed activity?

What will that do to the current overloaded debate, is it synchronised?

No idea bro, the only thing I’ve heard was on here, from Justic, though I haven’t had a google or anything.

I think a PI team would perk interest up in the NH, everyone loves watching them and their style(except maybe Wales :D ).

and Justic hadn't been on here for ages. Is she a Blues fan perhaps? Sorry for mentioning only the Blues then but I meant the bottom 3 to be cut and unfotunately they there the whole time with an Aussie and Sunwolves. All 3 Tier 2 teams a
nd a proper promo/rele will really make it the best rugby competition

Justic is not a big fan of Super rugby.

By the way your fixation with the Blues is a joke.

HTH :D

Vern she is not a foreseer
I know 4my was a Blues fan once ..mentioned but he moved to Chiefs few years back so there is no Kiwi that supports the Blues on here I think. Maybe Justic is out of Super rugby because of them.
I get what your'e saying though. a League below Super rugby where these bottom teams can play and still expand the game globally because they'll pull their socks up to get back up there in Super rugby. Sounds good to me
