France offered 150 mil Pounds but SA govt guarranteed 10 mil Pounds more for 2023 WC. SA upped their offer to 160 mil Pounds. Ireland couldn't match
Still think vote wise Ireland might get it e.g. nz and aus e.g.will vote for Ireland.
Finance its SA leading

As I understand it member votes decides
So although we offer best financially the vote can go elsewhere
in SA's favour
World Class stadia and a low cost tournament (exchange rate) Financially the best to hold it here, gate etc.
Just hope by that time , jeez 29 years into democracy, we are allowed finally to play our best team without a 50/50 as now or 90/10 in 5 years quota % applied. No matter what the heck our colour be it majority yellow, black, brown or white.
Very much like the American basketball or Athletics team represented 90% by the minority black but theyr'e the best!

It's often decided within the clique and by self interest ;)

I had the good fortune to witness an example of it.

I read a bit on the SA bid. Will take some beating. They offer 8 rugby venues no upgrades needed smallest 43-44k cap. Longest drive from a teams home base to a training facility will be only 17 mins. Final will be played in a 87-88k stadium. (Should be the one in jhb)
On tourism it says one can have breakfast with the great white sharks (probably the sea worlds in Durbs CT) have lunch in the vineyards and dinner with a Big five drive.
Lots of talk on the '95 unite a nation 2023 a unite the world

France are in a poor position despite having the best infrastructure to accommodate the event and an exemplary event in 2007.

Prime reasons :

-Terrorim incidence and vulnerability

-Internal french Federation malaise (reported in 'there's something rotten in the state of french rugby' section in french rugby on here)

...this has caused widespread concerns to the extent that the French President cancelled his visit to Paris <cough .. urgent political engagement elsewhere, cough > to support the bid and other personalities backing off not to get involved. The problems have escalated to an internal clash between Federation and major league Body, not to mention warring Presidents angry over billionaire's Altrad rough riding of the system.

Woota way to run a business.

I hope France get it, I may be the last person on this forum to visit France, but Toulon impressed me, the rugby focus of the city, cafes, scummy bars, not football, but rugby focus, saw big pics of Nonu, Fekitoa, I loved it. Liked the rugby vibe, knowledge and environment.

Don't know the politics like Tel and SA boys on SA but I'd love to be back for RWC then, I'd be bloody mid fifties lol, and a 5 year old in tow, papa daddy.

Really impressed by two stadiums I saw..

I dont know bro, thought it was a rule. Seeing as the poms held it last time, and Japan play their rugby in SH comps, and they will hold the next, I thought they were SH. :dontknow:

I guess Japan holding it was going to be a gamble, so they'd want a solid rugby nation to hold the one after them. They couldn't find one of those so they asked the meat eaters and frogs to fight it out. :D

I recon Japan will be oresome, close enough to NZ / Aussie and cheap enough from Europe. You will be stoked being there during that time.
Got some good pics in Toulon of giant sized Nonu, Fekitoa andMcCalsiter posters, one huge one welcoming Fekitoa which I thought was pretty cool.

Yep Japan physically is mostly NH lol. But yep, but does get a bit tedious the SA, Aussie, NZ, UK/France rotations but get it re $$, sport, venues..

Japan will be a great first off in many ways

Rupert's overkill on rugby is spoiling you ...... just imagine how good the WC would seem to your bored spectators if Rupert's grasp on sport was released and his benefactors told him to stick it and get some ethical TV companies in ......

BTW, Sanzar need crazy fools spending a shed load of money travelling the world.

Have you guys got some data on visiting SH fans for your international games? 1% of the crowds is it?

Please don't reply. It's a rhetorical question.
