I try and support it but gees, really Lions winning, which they could really do, without facing a NZ team till the semis.
Oh well I've said this all year.
Good on them if they win.
The Lions series *fupped* the Crusaders, the one game they really needed to win, is it a curse now for the Saders.

I've wanted and agree, it's better off we do our thing and try and get the Aussies over their uselessness. And Japan and a PI team as FMYs says. Spreading ABs could help. I get really weary of loaning non All Blacks because three years and they're Aussies. If say Aso played for NSWs for the next three seasons he's a Wallaby at 26. All Blacks only maybe. Only ABs in Aussie can play for ABs. Prob wouldn't work.

Gonna have to cut the SA people, they are now spread way too thin. I like what we had, but they are all about themselves

Interesting the Lions real team played all 5 of our teams, won 2, lost 2 and drew 1. And the Lions juniors didn't get to play one of our teams... till now and only at home.

Our home games are awesome.

I can't imagine too many players would want to go outside of NZ to play super rugby if they don't have to. Most of the better players will want the black jersey, and the nzrfu would be mad to let them go.

Aus, PIers and Japan would be sweet the longer I think about it. :thumbright:

looking forward to see these players playing on 'home soil' again :
CJ Stander and Jaco Taute (Munster)
Marnitz Boshoff (Connacht)
Marcell Coetzee (Ulster)
WP Nel (Edinburgh)
Oli Kebble (Glasgow Warriors)
Sarel Pretorius (Newport Gwent Dragons)
Derrick Minnie (Zebre)
Richardt Strauss (Leinster)

Ulster also have Wiehahn Herbst, Louis Ludik, Schalk Van Der Merwe, Jean Deysel, Robbie Diack (Jo Burg born), Rob Herring (Capetown born) Dragons Have Zane Kirchener, Munster also have Jean Kleyn. so plenty of South African players to be seen in the pro14. also where I live there are many South African ex pats who seem to be really looking forward to seeing their teams here in Ireland win-win

Franco van der Merwe was ace at the Lions (international isolation 3 years). Think he was in the team that won the 2013 Currie Cup. By far one of the best locks I have seen at the Lions. Mostert an ace these days. I felt for it when he (Franco v d Merwe) left SA but the Lions were then kicked out of S18 and the moneys then came from there. Lions lost 23 players
Seen him doing well for the Irish teams on tv from time to time
Lions had to regroup and got locks from clubs and surroundings. First as amateurs in 2014 when readmitted into S18. First win was over the Auckland Blues then the Reds and I always thought before the games...we only amateurs...and we're missing Franco!

More behind it
Bulls appointed John Mitchell as their new coach...
First think he did now was getting himself a very good nr10
Marnitz Boshoff is going to play for the Bulls is the word

He was an ace at the Lions (specially the 3 banned years) helped to win the Currie Cup in 2013!
He needs a nr9 with a long pass though
Lions paired Smittie , Dillon Smit with him and he had enough time to steady himself for dropgoals, once 4 of them against the Bulls at Loftus

very much so! starting September , official venues times 7 Aug.
12 games in each conf.
7 out of conf
2 remaining derbies
https://twitter.com/PRO14Official/statu ... 8510977025

Cheetahs will be about finished with the currie Cup by then, a competition they had a headstart in because the Lions still have some stars out and Cheetahs are a better side in the Currie Cup than in the S18 earlier the year with the return of Rosko Speckman, Chris Dry and Cecil Africa and hopefully if Pro14 backs sa team's quest in playing their best irrespective colour and without govt sports quotas that's applicable S18 and Springboks except Lions not adhering to it. It's game on!
Will have to deal with best of Wales in the Pro14 in their own conf. aswell as the likes of Connacht (without Marnitz Boshoff) and Munster!

Barstards I wish we were doing it, lol, too far, and too good (we think lol), to have go ahead like this....
Maybe a NZ team based in UK could do it.

What sort of temperature are these games likely to be played in in SA. It will be a bit of a jolt to the body when you are playing in a howling gale with horizontal rain in Galway one week and the next playing a game during the SA summer

The Crusaders look really good on paper, but the Lions will be very hard to beat.
Yep they should be fit enough but travel, altitude and temp could be the factors to give the Lions a big advanatage. Saying that I wouldn't have a clue re weather
