My biggest joy was tracking points with time
Should be close if not biggest points diffs defeat
Buddy's son destroyed japanese scrum

Why the Kiwis want the Lions and Cheetahs out of their S18 is beyond me grey matter
Well Pro12 will get beefed up

Just wondering how the beefed up pro12 dealt with the mighty bok teams?

Ulster 42-19 Cheetahs
Scarlets 57-10 Kings

Are those NH teams strong? That's a bit of a pasting but it's only the first game yeah? Hopefully they come right, not enjoying watching the boks wither away.

Are those NH teams strong? The Scarlets managed to beat Leinster and then Munster in Ireland to win the League last season. That's tough to do.

:thumbright: Fair enough then, Scarlets used to be a bit rubbish didn't they? When I first joined this place they were forever getting shit.

They were very poor for the first 5 years or so after the 2003/4 rejig of Welsh club rugby, they improved year on year after that.

It was a slow process but the playing part of the Scarlets empire is fine now.

It's the backroom staff that gives cause for concern as their supporters haven't increased in numbers for a while.

As current champions, if they add 15% to their ticket sales this year they'll be ecstatic as that will cover the losses they made on a restaurant chain that ended up as the missing link. It might have been a good idea but it wasn't handled properly - poor siting of premises and the opposition being a touch better is hard to survive on never mind flourish.

To be fair, I might have been harsh there as the opposition put a lot of effort into service and grub.

From what I understand almost nothing is left of the 2017 Super Rugby Southern Kings (something like only 2 players in common between the Matchday 23 vs Cheetahs end of 2017 SR season and vs Scarlets last weekend). They're a scratch side at the moment and can only really improve. Ulster and Scarlets are both among the stronger teams in the league at the moment and the scores probably flattered the hosts a little in both games.

Spot on Figaro. With Kings out of S18 before accepted in Pro14 virtually all of their Superrugby players took contracts elsewhere. In spite of what the scoreboard says both teams played positively and an attacking running game. The Cheetahs are a 2 year project come Pro14 seeing the diffs in their year1 and a much better year2.
There are better teams in the Currie Cup that do not play S18 but the Kings came through the back/political door and are now in the Pro14 although they did not make the Currie Cup competition which is strictly on promo/rele for strength vs strength
Must admit with the week or two of prep time and player poaching, the King's coach Davids did wonders! Looking fwd to them playing Connacht on Saturday

Based purely on the scores, they weren't playing that positively or attacking that much.

bear in mind there will be a promo/rele for the SA sides. Something that is missing in Superrugby.
The Steval Pumas and Griquas top finisher in the Anglo/Welsh Cup will challenge bottom SA Pro14 for promotion!
In a year without the added S18 and simultaneous Currie Cups games for the Cheetahs one will see imrovement
