Post 2 New Sa franchises announced Dec8
For the Anglo Welsh tourny and a USA tourney called World series 2 new sa pro franchises announced Dec at Saru's meeting
Applicants:
Steval Pumas (me holding thumps as they're a great performer in the cc.
Griquas
Leopards, Falcons and Griffons applied as a combo
Boland Cavaliers, SWD Eagles and Border applied as a combo
The combos as I see are unions geographically linked

Is sending teams all around the world a good idea? Seems as though you’re spreading and diluting your talent, plus fans aren’t going to follow all the teams, and certainly won’t watch all the games. I’m failing to see the goal here? What good will it do for the Springboks?

I can see more boks turning out for the yanks and Wales tbh, which isn’t a bad thing for those 2 countries, but a disaster for the meat eaters.

Those tourneys are income generators ... tv euros etc.
SA lost the WC bid which is not goof come finances and will need money to pay for their players. More or less 80 pro players will play in these and the added advantage is that the sa highest on the log come Anglo/Welsh will challenge bottom sa in the Pro14 log. This will boost (sa) Pro14 strength as it will ensure the best 2 sa (the ones not playing S15 Cheetahs, Kings, griquas etc.) will play in the Pro14 and the other 2 pro franchises will play in the Anglo/Welsh and USA world series which is good for development.
Also bear in mind a team such as the Steval Pumas is very much like the Lions and had been prevented politically from international competition before. There had been much better Steval Pumas sides coached by Jimmy Stonehouse in the past but at least they are getting their chance now and the necessary exposure.
Pumas Players such as Rosko Speckman are World Class but never got the opportunities at Pumas. Other Pumas who had to go elsewhere to get exposure are e.g. Duane Vermeulen Toulon, Marnitz Boshof Ulster, Faf de Klerk Lions and now sales Sharks etc.

Our welsh friends on here give me the impression that their comp isn’t much of a money earner tbh, I thought they got most of their money from their national team.

And the yanks tourney hasn’t even started yet, has it?

I hope things do work for you guys, the rugby world is better off when you guys are kicking arse. I guess I don’t see it being the financial money pot you can see, I guess time will tell.

The Rand's value gone haywire due to various factors but mostly political instability
Any Euros Dollars Pounds unions earn.even a little is a fin boost.

Personally I feel the Steval Pumas region can benefit from tourism. Theyr'e next to the Kruger National Park that host the big five and have World Class facilities on and off the field.

I m looking at the opportunities only and it's good you pointing out the snags in all this

Hope the Powers to be in saru made their calculations correctly

Steval Pumas recalled their old Currie cup coach Jimmy Stonehouse back. Confirmed as Director of coaching. a Mining group main sponsor of millions.
Will be a serious challenge for the Anglo/Welsh cup and later on for Pro14. This team ended higher than Cheetahs in the cc two years back.
They presented for Superrugby franchise but politics sanzar saru

Griquas and Steval Pumas awarded the two new franchises on the saru meet
Will start playing in the Anglo/Welsh tourney
Good news for Steval Pumas, a team that ended on top of the Cheetahs in the cc three years back and always performed better than the Kings. Politics kept them out of Superrugby although they have the infrastructure. Very much like what happened to the Lions for a few years.
