Post Positive progress to improve french Rugby
These are positive changes to unite amateur and Pro Rugby and they are formalised in a signed Convention targeted 2019 – 2023 to World Cup to be held in France 2023 and thereafter.

Previously posted on here recent investigations and comment on NZ structures and there is a definite trend towards similar in the new set up

-Club League Canal+ has signed a new TV agreement which increases the revenue from 74m euros to 97m during the period 2019-2023. 22m extra will be dedicated to improve the liaison with Amateur Rugby and will fund expertise to improve the relationship and coaching ‘bottom-up’ ie unite a total pyramid and development top to bottom and bottom to top. The improved entity will also strengthen the JIFF programme designed to limit on an ongoing basis the amount of foreign Pro players.

-In addition 40 player International elite squad will have significantly improved release conditions and rest periods.

-Very importantly a development squad of 20 players is also confirmed and the French Barbarians is formerly defined as the France ‘B’ and a development team and this is reinforced by the fact that it is registered as such under World Rugby Article 9 and compulsory release. That is a significant step.

This has been discussed for some time and it is now signed and committed and will now formerly apply.

----------------------------------------------------------------
An addition … the PRODiv2 league (16 Clubs) has enjoyed an increase of 22.5% attendance to an average of 5392.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Having said all that, … the missing part of the bloody equation is the extent of the Club schedules and resultant extent of unavailability of players! :angry4:

The increased rest periods and compulsory release will help but not negate.
