How many people think there should be a change in the set up of T 20 cricket, at both domestic and international level ? My opinion is that the game does not offer real challenges for the bowlers in that they can only bowl four overs; and that the requirements of batsmen is just to slog, rather than play anything resembling a normal game of cricket. The time will come when sides select 11 batsman, including a few who can bowl a bit; because at present the worlds top bowlers are conceding as many runs as those who seldom turn their arm. With most dismissals resulting from catches in the deep there seems no point including any player in a T20 side who cannot hold a cricket bat. Adopting my plan would change that situation for the better.

So, here we go. First of all the game should be twenty eight ball overs, as was used in Australia many years ago. Any two bolwers can bowl a maximum of five overs, meaning that insterad of only being able to bowl 24 balls at present, they can now bowl 40 balls. The remaining ten overs will be subject to the four over maximun as at present.

The third match official should review every appeal and decision when the on field officials so request, whilst the game continues. If a decision is overturned then an adjustment in the score will be made; or the departing batsman returns to the field. There will be no restrictions on the number of reviews, because at the end of the day all that is wanted is fair play.

Obviously there is a need for minor adjustments of this plan, but I genuinely feel it forms the basis of a beneficial way in improving the game of cricket accross the board; and as a step forward in making all formats of the game available to every first class cricketer around the world.
