Good to see that isn't it, TP?

Equal cars and equal talent can pay dividends - as long as the daft buggers don't keep banging into each other ...

Merc/Red Bull podium

Hamilton from the start/Bottas lost 2nd at start to Vettel but got 2nd with well driven 1 stop strategy/Verstappen cute Red Bull tactics 3rd and despite, again, touching Williams and breaking front wing but continuing.

Vettel 4th lacked pace, Ricciardo came fast at finish and took lap record 5th, Magnussen Haas well done 6th.

First lap mayhem 4 cars out ... caused by Grosjean (?) again? ...

Raikkonen's Ferraris engine probs ...

Hamoilton all the way, ...depended on whether Bottas could survive 1 stop strategy and whether Verstappen could contain damage. Ferrari disappointing.

Merc reassert themselves

That was chaos at the start as Grosjean does something stupid - again.

And now it has happened :-

Quote:
The controversial wing mirrors used by Ferrari at last weekend's Spanish Grand Prix have been banned by Formula 1.

The sport's governing body, the FIA, did not approve of the way the mirrors were mounted to the halo head-protection device on the car.

Teams may still mount mirrors on the halo following a rule clarification, but they must have only an "incidental or minimal" aerodynamic effect.

The FIA felt Ferrari's mirrors gave them too much aerodynamic gain.

Max Verstappen has done it again!

That stupid accident - a novice mistake that was a carbon copy of his last blunder in qualifying - saw him at the back of the grid while his teammate is on pole.

And, yet again, the GP at Monte Carlow is a procession.

The drivers all want to win it for the prestige but its as interesting to watch as a ticking clock …..

Red Bull's Max Verstappen headed Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen in second practice at the Canadian Grand Prix.

The groundhogs got into the action as well though as Grojean had his usual bad luck …..

A few surprises in qualifying as Hamilton goofed and ended up 4th and the expected pole for Verstappen didn't happen.

Sebastian Vettel delivered when it mattered in qualifying as the German secured Ferrari’s first pole position in Canada since Michael Schumacher achieved the feat in 2001…

Vettel laid down an impressive benchmark in the final part of qualifying, clocking a 1m10.776s to hit the top of the charts.

He then improved by a further 0.012s to confirm pole – his fourth in seven races this season.

Another surprise was Grosjean's car not being put in a wall - it caught fire instead. His luck is all bad.

It didn't 'catch fire'??

The engine blew on leaving the pit lane for his first qualifying lap, oil escaped and the exhaust smoke was overwhelming.

Poor bugger is bottom of all drivers whilst his HAAS partner Magnussen has started the Season positively.

^^^^^^^^^^^

Red Bull have a very good 'race car' Ie not specialised for best poll competition but their set up is versatile in a long term race, although they lack the straight line speed of Merc and Ferrari.

Could be a very interesting race, maybe inevitable safety car(s) as the dreaded 'wall' beckons.

Nice mix at the start...that could be interesting in it's own right.

Don't elimilate Hamilton from podium either ...he has an excellent record on this circuit and was off form in qualifying.

I think that it is between Red Bull and Ferrari for prime place with Merc a potential podium.

Should be an eventful race, F1 needs one.

Ocon doing well, Gasly disappoints his previous form and Leclerc is the young man on the block. potential Ferrari future driver as Raikonnen wanes? Hartley had a good qualifying ...he needs one..his seat is threatened.

McLaren disappointed in qualifying, whilst Magnussen's Haas did well.

Williams in a dreadful state!

I'm looking forward to it.

F1 big news is that Red Bull may switch to Honda?

Red Bull are in their best position for years.

Why would they change anything as important as an engine supplier?

Still, it's F1 and nothing lasts forever, TP.
