The OZ/Fiji game was a non-event as Australia outclassed Fiji to score points at will.

And then, the best finish in a RL game that I've ever seen was shown live on BBC1 this morning!

England controlled Tonga to lead 20 - plonk with around 10 minutes to go and all seemed serene.

However, the screaming Tonga support went absolutely crazy in that last 10 minutes as England had to withstand a massive onslaught from an inspired Tonga who scored a try alongside the posts, then another to get back to 20 - 12.

Tonga were running like trains now and scored another try, which was again converted, to leave England holding on at 20 - 18 with 4 minutes to go !!

England had looked as solid as a rock in defence but damn near conceded again as Tonga threw the ball wide for what looked a real chance to take the most unlikely of wins!

They were agonisingly close but a looping pass was intercepted by an England flier who looked to run the length of the field.

He didn't because he was holding the ball in one hand and was dispossessed ......

One minute to go and Tonga charged forward with a lump of a forward in possession and Tonga must surely win now as he thundered towards the England try line.

Then he was stripped of the ball by a sneaky hand from the English player running in from the side!

The ball went loose and the Gorilla stormed forward again ball in hand to cross England's line!

A try, a try!!

No - it wasn't, the referee said he'd lost the ball and - as the clock showed 80 minutes - the ref blew for time.

Bloody Nora !!

What a finish to a game, what a finish to any game of rugby!!

Between the cricket and the Rugby League in that last 10/15 minutes, I needed a sit down and a drink ...

"Quiet start to the morning ?", said the wife, coming down the stairs. She'd woken up with the hooting and hollering ....
