General classification - Wikipedia

The general classification (or the GC) in bicycle racing is the category that tracks overall times for bicycle riders in multi-stage bicycle races.

Each stage will have a stage winner, but the overall winner in the GC is the rider who has the fastest time when all the stage results are added together and compounded.

Sky have now sterilized the Tour, no action in the mountain from the GC contenders just continual boredom.

Aye it's terrible that they want to win
I've been watching the Tdf for over 20 years and this is the most exciting I can remember

Would you prefer a race that was over after stage 8 because one rider took 8 minutes off their rivals?

Dan Martin has attacked (constantly). Bardet and Aru attacked and took good stages. Landa has ridden beautifully and his two big attacks nearly split the race. Froome attacked but couldn't get away. Warren Barguil lit up the mountains as well and is the best polka dot jersey winner I've seen for awhile.

Uran nearly trips up on t trial

Froome might even catch Bardet .. :D

Froome's tour, Uran second?

Bardet 1 sec ahead of Landa in 3rd!!

Be interesting to see what Sky do tomorrow. They normally crawl in after the sprint with the whole team alongside the maillot jaune, but it wouldn't be impossible for Landa to sneak a second or two off Bardet and get on the podium?

That was brilliant television.

The French hopes for Bardet were almost laid to rest as Froome came in 3rd in Marseille literally seconds behind the French rider who had a 2 minute start.

Screams of congratulation were not forthcoming.

Bardet was sweating at the end, TJP.

An insight into just how tough this TDF was.

By convention the GC riders don't race on the final stage it's left to the sprinters. I think that in modern times the yellow jersey has only changed once on the final stage and that was when Greg Lemond won it in a TT overtaking Laurent Fignon by, i think, 6 seconds

Froome will be the 7th winner not to have won any of the stages?

This is what the Tour de France does for you.
Photo of Bardet in today's paper after yesterday's time trial.

A serious Q : Why are these cyclists legs so bloody thin and apparently without muscle when the major dependence is on them

This physique is not uncommon.

How many times in the last 30 years has there been only one second between a podium place?
