Bardet team seem broken, Bardet following Sky tem alone ..5 km to finish.

Barguil proving his climber acclaim and jersey

Spectacular route and scene.

Landa going on from GC group, Bardet and Froome together ...3.5 km to go overall

Bardet giving it go ...Froome now ...Uran folowing ...with aBardet

Barguil ...looks like taking the stage .....

Crowd a complete pain in the arse again

Bardet trying to take Froome ..3rd and 4th in stage placings

Barguil wins it ..

Bardet takes 4secs finishing marginaly in front of Froome

Wow!! Just feel like I've done it myself :D

Bardet +23secs

Looks like aFroome ...now ....

Chwarae teg to Dan Martin he's defiantly my "man of the match". He had a terrible crash and has at least tried something even without a team for back up

That's Le Tour over for another year. Except for the sprint on sunday.

Some very exciting stages this year although GC was predictably another bore fest with Team Sky and Froome in control for the entire three weeks from the TT on Day 1.

Much preferred the Polka and Green jersey comps instead

Think you underrate certain performances and the sheer effort involved in such a stage.

The closeness of the top 3 and their inability to get a detatchment is good viewing in it's own right too. Bardet lone performance against Sky was also a worthy effort.

Martin mentioned above and Barguil's performance as a climber has been superb and shown up some S Americans in that respect.

If one looks at the result one could well decide that it was unexciting but watching it was theatre and a wonderful backloth.

Drugs apart, the endeavour involved is remarkable.

The Tour has been v exciting and quite dramatic and today's stage imo contributed to it.

The criwd behavour a sad exception, ...something serious will inevitably happen sooner rather than later.... :angry4:

From the BBC :-

Quote:
Britain's Chris Froome took a big step towards winning a fourth Tour de France - and third in succession - as French rider Warren Barguil won stage 18.

Froome reached the Col d'Izoard summit in fourth, just behind Romain Bardet, who is now 23 seconds adrift of the Team Sky man in second place overall.

Quote:
Barguil, who will finish the race as King of the Mountains, pulled away from Darwin Atapuma to win his second stage.

Britain's Simon Yates still leads the best young rider classification.

Quote:
Colombia's Rigoberto Uran lost two seconds on the line and is now third overall, six seconds adrift of Bardet.

There are just three stages remaining - two flat routes and Saturday's time trial in Marseille, where Froome is expected to extend his advantage.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/results

General classification after stage 18:

1. Chris Froome (GB/Team Sky) 78hrs 08mins 19secs

2. Romain Bardet (Fra/AG2R La Mondiale) +23secs

3. Rigoberto Uran (Col/Cannondale-Drapac) +29secs

4. Mikel Landa (Spa/Team Sky) +1min 36secs

5. Fabio Aru (Ita/Astana) +1min 55secs

6. Dan Martin (Ire/Quick-Step Floors) 2mins 56secs

7. Simon Yates (GB/Orica-Scott) 4mins 46secs

8. Louis Meintjes (SA/Team UAE Emirates) +6mins 52secs

9. Warren Barguil (Fra/Team Sunweb) +8mins 22secs

10. Alberto Contador (Spa/Trek-Segafredo) +8mins 34secs

Looks tame, as expected

Leading group 6 km out and of only stage win significance and bit players.

GC group 10 mins off and little expected from there too ...
