Post Re: India v England - 5th Test
India are the first team to score 400 plus every first innings in a 5-match series.

England, in 1989, scored 400 plus in a 6-match series.

India are now homing in on England's 477 with 4 wickets down

404 for 4 and Broad just bowled a very testing over. Nice one.

Aggers said the batsman did get a feather, no reviews left .....

Dawson turns his arm over and gets smashed for 6 immediately.

Hmmmm.

In he comes again.

Trundle, trundle.

Jake Ball saves 2 runs down on the boundary.

Stokes is loosening up. Broad is done already.

Dawson is feeding the buggers runs.

416 for 4 and Dawson changes his field.

Try changing the bowling sir.

And he does. Good ball.

A very good century for Nair.

India coming into reach of England's 477.

435 for 4

LBW appeal and Vijay has gone.

435 for 5

Dawson is thrilled.

And now Dawson is bowling a lot better.

How many times do you see that? A change of attitude, a happorth of optimism and the bowler is transformed.

Stokes bowling at the other end has broken the shoulder of the bat!!

That was quick!

And then a boundary ball ...

Dawson stays on ..

447 for 5

450 up.

Stokes runs in to Ashwin ... tucks it round the corner ... easy as shelling peas.

Nair struggling a bit and needs a boundary for his confidence to return.

Stokes around the wicket.

Better stroke from Nair.

Dawson in ..... overpitched. No run.

Ashwin stuck?

Nah, easy single at last.

452 for 5

62 runs in this session so far.

8)

Ashwin trying to bash Dawson and he does.

Good boundary and he's gone up to 8.

Yippee.

66 runs in the session.

Rashid replaces Stokes.

Nair pushes it for a single.

Ashwin faces and scores.

459 for 5

And Nair smacks a boundary.

Rashid turns one and the batsman watches it go past.

463 for 5.

LUNCH

England won the session and killed any hopes of an early declaration by India today - unless Kohli gets some scintillating support of course ........

Ho hum.

Gorn now.

India refuse to copy the batting style of England and score over 700. One day should be enough to bowl England out

45 for no wicket.

Sunny accepts it was an expensive over.

:D

Cook is playing like a man in a trance. Very hit and miss.

TMS chatter - Sunny and Aggers - "I don't think England will make the 282 needed to make India bat again".

:kermit:

Jennings smacks the ball into ultra short leg, who manages to drop it.

Another appeal when the ball hits the ground off the next ball.

Cue the stupid appealing that must be pissing off the umps.

62 for nowt.

England have batted out the session without losing a wicket.

Fiery is thrilled and praises the England openers to the heights. He insists that India will not win this one.

Not a wicket despite a hundred appeals to the umpires .....

477 all out plus a start of 97 for 0 off 37 overs.

We can still have a rattle of wickets but the spinners are shabby today, apart from the mighty Ashwin ...

BTW, for all the talk of Cook's problems, he is still averaging 40 for the series and has 367 runs with one hundred and one fifty. Three more needed this afternoon for another half century.

From Fiery :-

Quote:
England have had a splendid morning. Cook got a nick early on, had a bit of fortune, but after that, he's been in this situation so many times, I'm not worried. It's not been his best series ever, but he hardly ever bats badly.

I was more interested in the kid [Jennings] after two failures. It's turning, but it's slow, and he played splendidly. He did exactly the right thing - good defence, economy of movement, but he's looked to score as if they're going to have three or four around the bat, there are going to be gaps.
