Red Bulls!!

They like this circuit and they proved it today, Verstappen overtook Hamilton early and never looked back, 20 today and his 2nd GP F1 win!

Hamilton 2nd and Merc/Hamilton second best

Ricciardo a fine race to finish 3rd

Vettel made up all ground for 4th

Vandorne (sp?) / McLaren an excellent 7th (Alonso/McL) 11th

Williams get 2 in the pts ...

Bottas poor race to get 5th

Finally, should have been 1st !!.. ;) Raikkonen didn't make the grid with problem!

Great team Red Bull !

Walk in the park for Hamilton who dominated qualifying for Japan GP

Bottas snatched second from Vettel but has to take a grid penalty.

Grid : Hamilton, Vettel, Ricciardo, Verstappen

Looks good for Hamilton but for start probs or car reliability

Good video, good race.

Hamilton is almost - but not quite - the champion.

Should he have the rotten luck that has stalled Vettel he'll be catchable. If all goes well in the US he'll be looking certain to win his 4th title.

1 - Lewis Hamilton - 306 points

2 - Sebastian Vettel - 247
3 - Valtteri Bottas - 234
4 - Daniel Ricciardo - 192

Hamilton has had his share of rotten luck ...cue McLaren episode and Rosbergs W Champ.

Some of Vettel's undoing has been downto him and, imo, Hamiltonis thebetter driver and Merc the
better constructor

Lewis is dominating practice over the water and Vettel has real problems again.

Ferrari get it right and Vettel put in a great lap in qualifying.

Lewis still got pole position and it's going to be a tremendous race today.

Good information for you to have a look at.

It was very windy and the impact on the cars was significant.

I watched it.
Hamilton totally dominated but for one Vettel lap that pushed Bottas into 3rd.
Qualifying seemed to show that providing Hamilton gets in front at the start he should dominate.
Verstappen has a 15 position penalty but Ricciardo is up there and Raikkonen (Sp?) is disappointing which overall suggests the Mercedes car and set up is dominant?
Occon did well again in his battle with Perez and Sainz had a good qualifying in his move to Renault and was particularly impressive given an unfamiliar car and team. Just shows how poor Palmer was?

Up late again tonight to watch it .....

^^^^^^^

Controversy ...

Raikkonen on the podium 3rd

Verstappen loses placs for 4 wheels over white line on last overtaking whilst there were other instances unpenalised during the race.

Verstappen still got driver of the day

Post Re: Formula One in 2017
Overtaking and all sorts yesterday.

Hamilton was exceptional and his car was as well.

Hamilton had to fight for his win - at least at the beginning - after Vettel's Ferrari started brilliantly.

Lewis did not have to chase Vettel down but his Mercedes was perfect and he easily passed Seb at Turn 12 on lap six.

Hamilton did not look back and his imperious superiority on this circuit saw him easily to the finishing line for the victory, his 9th in 17 races this year.

Bottas was having a tough race in comparison and the Ferraris and Red Bulls were fighting for the other podium places.

As Panties said, there was controversy at the end of the Lewis masterclass as Raikonnen was gifted the 3rd podium spot when the brilliant Verstappen was judged to have cheated by going off track to storm past the slower Ferrari driver.

That farcical decision ignored a host of other "transgressions" that were rightly ignored during the race following the FIA decision BEFORE THE RACE to allow competitors to drive off the track as and when required without penalty.

Verstappen was judged to be "Driver of the Day" by the general public and that only highlighted the idiocy of the ruling that denied the young genius his rightful place of honour.

Nothing could take the shine off Hamilton's performance afaiwc and he is now Champion Elect this season with a handful of points need in the next 3 races.
