Post Glamorgan Cricket
God, we have just imploded this year, losing most games by an innings. I think the All Welsh/youth experiment has failed miserbly and we stay in the second division where we clearly belong!

The trouble is, they lost three experienced players in Kasprowitz, Elliott (injured most of year) and Matthew Maynard quitting at the start of the year!

Add to that Simon Jones lack of availability, Steve James retiring due to injury last year and you are really looking at half of the side.

Without Kaspo, the bowling has lacked any real penetration, take Jones away too and you are left with the Harrison brothers (will be really good players in a couple of years time) The elder of the two is quite sharp (I know from personal experience! )

They have some real talented youngsters on their books, we have a few at our club who have real potential to make it at County level at least, and one kid who is at the MCC who Glamorgan turned down believe it or not! He is going to be a top cricketer (Kyle Tudge is his name - one to watch for in future years!)

a bit harsh cous!

Glamorgan have had 10 Great years, Great players, and great achievements.

They are rebuilding, and by those standards they are poor.

They will come again.

id rather them have an all Welsh team than have rejects from other counties.

If you want to be in Divison 2 for ever, I guess so. Jones has never done much in County Cricket, and Maynard is missed. Youngsters look overmatched though.

Of course i want Glamorgan to be up there, and they are still in Div 1 of the 45 over variety.

I think people are too harsh on a young side.

Eliotts beiin injured, and they are mising Kasper.

I would like to see them get Kallis back next year if they can.

yes. He was available because he was banned from playing for India for a while. So he was looking for a county for a short period of time only.

I wouldn't say they've had 10 great years Leight. They have constantly failed to make any meaningful progress in the one day cup competitions (one final appearance since 1977 - which they didn't turn up for!), one County Championship victory since 1969, and two Sunday League titles!

Not that impressive a CV if you ask me!

I was at Lord's for the 1977 final - poor game but a festive day. Later one of our lot fell off a bus and we were at St. Barts later on that night.

Those were the days... :)

Any idea why Glamorgan did not make Gloucestershire follow-on? Was it just that the bowlers were tired?

Glamorgan could be heading for their first win today. As for not following on? Maybe the bowlers were too tired?

Played golf with Malcolm Nash last Sunday, Leight. Nice guy, and he has not been very lucky in his post Glamorgan career.
