They own "MG" but lease "Rover". They also have the rights to the MG TF & Rover 45 (the 25, 75 & K-series engines were sold). They also have all the tooling/assembley lines - which I imagine the Chinese will want to buy (as that is an expensive part of set-up costs). The other thing of value that have is the land on which the factories are built.

And probably worth more in the Europe then the Rover brand.

The Chinese wanted the Rover brand though...

My da (RIP) made the best decision of his driving life in '92, buying an 8 series - Rover 825i (Honda V6 engine) and what a car that was.
We used to cruise the M4 at 86mph and it felt like 50mph.

Rover were damn good cars then but never really recaptured the P6 days.
