Re: Dragons cast the net further afield ..this time Aus
Hobbs is a half decent Loosehead Prop, probably the Dragons' best dedicated 1, but isn't really up to the level even of Cory Hill let alone Ross Moriarty or Quade Cooper; the Dragons could do with a good recruit or two there (probably worth looking at NWQ, are there some grizzled Romanians out there or someone?). Oddly enough I think their 3s are OK. Fairbrother seems to be doing alright under Jackman's coaching, Harris is ok if getting older and Brown is a decent prospect. I would rather have seen Fairbrother or Harris get a run out against South Africa than Scott Andrews and Rhodri Jones.

That depends on the quality. The Dragons still need a lot of improvements but if they can sign some good players, the positive impact on the rest of the team is worth the blocking of a couple of youth players. E.g. Henson has been creating space for the other backs and improved those round him.

The latest superstar being linked to the Dragons is Leone Nakarawa, the Fiji international lock at Racing '92 (formerly Glasgow). Now that really would be a sensational signing, in exactly the right part of the team.

The likelihood of them signing these players is low, but it shows determination of the region and will make it more likely that other players will chose to go there.

Andrews is a real shame as he is a good rugby player but just terrible at scrummaging. Not being great at a core bit of your job description isn’t helpful. Danny Wilson got rid and has a decent record as a forwards coach

As a bit of a come down from Quade Cooper... the dragons have signed Nicky Thomas on loan from Scarlets

As far as I know, Nicky Thomas can hold his Beer. Quade Cooper 7 Jun 2012 - WAYWARD Wallabies Quade Cooper and Kurtley Beale have been involved in a boozy incident at a Brisbane nightspot where police were called in. ... Beale had done work to repair his image after being fined in 2007 when being caught driving under the influence and without a licence as a teenager. Cooper keeps bad company - Beale has a list of drinking offences as long as a rugby pitch.

Thomas is a far better prop than Cooper

Quade Cooper is completely *fupping* mental, so maybe he'll be at home in Wales?

The Dragons have some promising young players in the back division, but I still think they need a touch of experience and quality at 9 and 10. Gavin Henson has been a decent signing so far, but will be a year older next season and they could do with a better alternative than they currently have.

Agree with this, Henson has been a step up from previous incumbents at 10 and made some good decisions.... but has made some poor ones as well and his kicking out of hand can put the dragons under pressure If dragons are serious they need a 10. Anscombe, patchell and Biggar are miles ahead of gav currently.
