Rumour has it he has signed for Newport next year for 350K. I detect the untrustworthy hand of the WRU in here and maybe a player with limited ambitions.

;)

£350 is a reaonable whack and they can fford it, maybe other regions cannot even at 60% and it can balance up valued NDCs across the Regions too.

Scarlets had designs on Moriarty to replace Barclay....why should the WRU promote and subsidise elitism?

Sorry David, I am tickling

I am not sure we want him anyway....I think we have too many Welsh players already frankly under the current system, as did the Ospreys when they were top provider. The NDC concept needs reworking, I am told a lot of changes will happen after the 2019 World Cup.

He wants to stay closer to England also, (who can blame him), and is a bit injury prone, and loves contact, like his relatives of my generation. He obviously has no ambition for good club rugby, like Warburton, the WRU poster boy.

Today's edition of The Rugby Paper says he is definitely off to the Dragons.

Perhaps he is the first of these sorts of players to aigb for the Dragons. Hopefully they can make another few players come and improve the team.

The WRU looking after their own investment no doubt...just as well there's no conflict of interest ;)

Obviously the WRU/Dragons just can't win.

They sign some youth players, a young Welsh Qualified Saffer and a Rugby League convert as a punt and everyone complains about pointless signings.

They sign the best Welsh Scrum half and some other proven professional players they could have done and are told they are signing more dead wood.

Yet when they look to have signed the hottest Welsh international forward, 23, and a British and Irish Lion, they're told that it's unfair and special treatment.

I really do question why anyone with a brain would go to Newport. I am told he wants to live in England and Llanelli is too far away.
Newport is 3-5 years away from being a competitive team. Maybe it is the WRU plan to take overall the regions by feeding the best players to its own team. :P

It's a long old trek from the English borders to Llanelli and a shitty drive to boot - must admit I wouldn't fancy that every day to get to training.
Jackman says he sees it as a 3 Year project with this season presumably Year 1, on which basis Moriarty would be arriving at the start of Year 2 and should see the fruition of Jackman's plans a year or so later; then if it doesn't work out he can move to pastures new after the RWC2019...

To just show how shitty the Dragons still are, a very young Scarlets team in the AWC almost won at Rodney Parade against a side featuring the likes of Gavin Henson, Brok Harris, Angus O'Brien and quite a few other team regulars.

I agree, why would any top player go there. I wonder if he will be playing nearly as much international rugby as club rugby, similar to the Warburton model..... on average 12 appearances a year and one try a year. Good work if you can get it.

If the union are to perpetrate the 60 cap thing, then they're going to have to sign Welsh players at the region they now own.
The Dragons has to be the centrepiece of Welsh qualified rugby players, or else the whole thing is a joke.

Think of some of the football teams of the 90s. Teams like Middlesborough seemed to come from nowhere and then signed Juninho and Ravanelli. Ok, the team didn't win much but if they pay enough players will come.

I'd say that the money that the WRU are probablygoing to spend shows that there is ambition.
