Oh dear.

Um, er, erm, well, do you think the Ospreys have well established and long-term sponsors?

Do you think that the Ospreys haven't picked up new sponsors this year and last?

Is it possible that you haven't researched your topic?

Mind you, they haven't got a County Council spending ratepayers' millions, the Ospreys don't have a significant number of County Councillors among their supporters, I guess ... btw, ever heard of the phrase "Ultra Vires"?

Here are the Ospreys Lions - http://www.ospreysrugby.com/Teams/Lions

And I raise you the population of Swansea and Neath - that's 240,000 plus 46,000, call that 285,000 in round figures.

:D :D :D :D :D

Who paid the £27m for the Liberty to be built? Just wondering

Haven't you heard the latest news? Even the Star had it ...

Tell you what - Search for "Liberty Stadium changing hands" on Google - the piece is 4 years old but you'll get the gist.

So the county council spent the £27m then. Cheers. And the Ospreys didn't have to contribute £9m like the Scarlets.

So just for clarity - the Ospreys had a very big subsidy from the ratepayers' millions. Much bigger than the Scarlets.

Oh and the Scarlets have to pay actual rent, and a commercial rate of interest to CCC, not a "peppercorn rent" like the Swans/Ospreys do.

Not that I'm against councils supporting local businesses of course.

You are unaware of the Swansea soccer bois looking to buy the Liberty?

Perhaps if you scanned the web .....

Yes but it doesn't alter the fact that Ospreys had many more £millions of taxpayers money than Scarlets. You're not disagreeing with that I note.

Can you give some facts and figures?

Or a link to the data?

Thank you ...

PYS cost £25m to build. CCC put in £16m. Scarlets put in £7m from Stradey. CCC lent Scarlets another £2m towards the cost, which Scarlets pay 4% interest on. (So the *Terks* are in for £9m)

Liberty cost £27m to build. Swansea Council put £27m in. Ospreys and SCFC put nothing in.

Ever since the Scarlets stopped whinging and started playing rugby, I've had far more inclination to listen to their fans' opinions.
I'm with you, Wasp; *fupp* the Ospreys. G'wan the *Terks*.

Increased interest from Toulon, reported offer in the pipeline, sticking point ...international absence

Can't see any relief on that front...not with W Cup in sight .....

The parallel offer option for Toulon is Lesgourgues from Bordeaux.

Ex France 9 Galthié the new Toulon Coach is well placed to make the decision....

As the liberty is shared between the O's and Swansea FC, the cost should be cut in half, that then makes the investment £13.5m, so still £2.5m less investment than the scal's.

There's more to a new stadium business case than Council investment?

Lesgourgues will stay at Bordeaux so Webb could become prome target for Toulon.

Which would make the decimation of the Ospreys complete....AWJ is the only asset remaining, albeit at the end of his career.

If Ospreys had capitalised on their playing talent when it was at its highest they would not have descended into this abyss. Their absence of form, so typical of Rugby in Wales is an indictment of amateur values in the professional game, players and supporters alike accept without shame poor displays as long as they can get pissed on 'Saturday night'. Blues are nothing to write home about and getting worse quickly as business trumps rugby continually .... and The Dragons?... well they are still a work in progress even now too soon to judge. At least Y Sgarlets are still here and saving a total Welsh wipe out.

Which business school did you go to? :D

Having been to both they are very different.

The Scarlets have a rugby facility with the barn for indoor training. Landore is basically a soccer ground, nothing else.

The following confirms the previous post ..

Tony Panties wrote:

It states that Toulon missed out on Lesgourgues (they have current french international 9 Serin as well) and despite concerns about International absence have intensified their efforts to sign Webb. Obviously Bdx have backed off having secured Lesgourgues but Saracens still in it and, as per the article, WRU are fighting all the way to retain Webb.

Heading is : 'Toulon want to bring to a close [the signing] of Webb.

He should go and shorten his career.

Better weather and food, much higher standard of play. This might force him to become a more disciplined player.
