Post Wales's worst game since Gatland took over?
Since I asked which were the best games since Gatland took over in another thread, now let us discuss the opposite.

N.B. Yes I know that a number of said matches didn't actually have Gatland as such coaching them on the day, but they still occurred during his era.

There was also the drubbing by a 2nd-string Irish team at the Millenium in the warmups to the 2015 WC (the last Wales game played by Hibbard and Mike Phillips), but I'd exclude that as it wasn't anywhere near our first team. For the same reason I'd exclude the loss to Japan (Dafydd Howells played on the wing) as it didn't really represent where we were at the time.

I remember finding the 26-3 defeat to Ireland in 2014 a particularly humiliating experience, coming as it did on the back of the glories of the last match of 2013 and the 2012 grand slam. To be so totally outclassed by a side we had a decent record against... that's when the rot seemed to set in and was the start of the maddeningly inconsistent period we are still in.

I get your point about the Japan match, but then Ireland also sent out a youthful team this season what with the Lions being on (though I still think they were a somewhat more experienced team than the Wales teams in the summers of both 2013 and this year, especially among the forwards and half-backs) and won quite comfortably the first test and to a lesser extent the second test.

What is quite demeaning and unforgivable is the way small minds attempt to influence a reality that they have no part of in the first place.
