Flawed poll. I can select up to thirteen of the thirteen available options, which sort of defies the point.
*fupp* it, I miss 'em all.

Interesting how Shane so far has had the most votes. Yes, he was a great try scorer, but still Wales managed to win two consecutive 6N without him. Nevertheless, I miss him too. Here is a tribute to him, courtesy of an Aussie soap opera:

I suppose the difference is that right now he seems like exactly the sort of thing we're lacking.

Lee and Francis are no Adam Jones but I don't think they're terrible.

Phillips was capable of brilliant things and stupid things, just like Rhys Webb. If Webb is fully fit I think he's decent enough.

Where we look really weak is options on the wing.

Shane

Without question

Best player I've seen live and could create something from nothing, a genuine world class player for a number of years.

He hasn't officially retired from Test rugby, just hasn't been selected for a number of years (and rightly so).

It took brains to get the point, never mind..

He was an overrated player even in his prime.

Fupp me!!!!

Very little excitement left in a game played increasingly by only the big. Shane dancing around in heavy traffic was a sight to behold. I rarely get out of my seat nowadays, not just because of my dodgey knees, but because defenses are so on top and attacks are so predictable.

Shane. Easily.

Also miss Peel. For me he was the catalyst during the 2005 GS. Although I appreciate he went off the radar long before retiring.

As an aside, players during my life time that I remember watching and miss most are Jiffy before he went north and Ieuan Evans. Jiffy was the most exciting player I've ever watched, and Evans' sidestep was the stuff of legend. And I'll never forget when he skinned Underwood 10-9 :-)

Agree on jiffy. Although he will not shut up on Scrumv, he was brilliant. He had a side step, and if that did not work he could scrap with the best of them. His change of pace or change of direction was superb, and so many tough guys who flew at him ended looking like dicks because he was not there when they arrived to stuff him.

A 4th dimension player at his best - Jiffy was a great one. Keep him away from the mike at rugby grounds and he's good value.

Obviously Shane, but presuming all on the list were at the height of their powers, then I think Adam Jones would probably be the one we could do with now as that quality of tight head is a rare thing for us, that said, I think a 2005 or 2008 Grand Slam vintage Henson would be the player who would make the most impact on the current side.

Just wiki'd Alix Popham for another thread - he wasn't bad.
